Job Description
Job Title: Engineering Manager / Lead Technical Manager
Location: Bangalore (Onsite)
Reporting to: Senior Manager, RGM Analytics
PURPOSE OF ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Engineering Manager / Lead Technical Manager with over 8 years of experience in full-stack development, cloud architectures, and engineering leadership.
In this dual-hatted role, you will lead the entire engineering team both technically and as a people manager. You will be responsible for building high-performing teams, fostering a culture of ownership and innovation, and driving the end-to-end delivery of robust, scalable solutions. While providing hands-on technical guidance in Python, Azure Cloud, SQL Server, and modern front-end technologies like REACT, you will also manage people operations, career growth, performance cycles, and cross-functional alignment.
KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- People Management & Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, leading performance reviews, career pathing, and continuous skill development.
- Engineering Culture & Hiring: Build and scale a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture; drive recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of top engineering talent.
- Technical Architecture & Strategy: Design and oversee the development of robust, scalable applications using Python, backend services (Django/FastAPI), Kubernetes and associated frameworks.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Management: Implement and optimize cloud-based solutions leveraging Azure Cloud services for hosting, scaling, automation, and Azure DevOps, Git CI/CD pipelines.
- Database & Data Reliability: Oversee the architecture and maintenance of SQL databases, including SQL Server, ensuring high performance, scalability, and data reliability.
- Frontend & UX Direction: Guide the architecture of responsive, modern front-end solutions with REACT, NodeJS, TypeScript, and modern UI frameworks (Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, REACT Material).
- Delivery & Agile Governance: Drive Agile Scrum ceremonies, manage sprint planning, remove blockers, and partner with product and cross-functional stakeholders for on-time, high-quality feature delivery.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, and automated testing frameworks while evaluating emerging technologies to drive process and product innovation.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
Education: B. Tech / M. Tech degree
Experience: 8+ years of total software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in technical leadership, tech lead, or engineering management capacity managing direct reports.
Technical/Functional Skills:
Mandatory Skills
- Python backend: 8+ years in software engineering, hands-on with Python and Django or Fast API, including API design.
- Azure and DevOps: Production experience on Azure with Kubernetes (AKS) and CI/CD through Azure DevOps and Git.
- SQL and data: Strong SQL Server, including database design and performance tuning.
- People management: 2+ years managing direct reports (reviews, hiring, mentoring) in an Agile Scrum team.
Good to have skills
- React, TypeScript, NodeJS and modern UI frameworks (Tailwind, Material)
- Delta Lake and medallion architecture
- Microservices and system design at scale
- Automated testing frameworks and code quality standards
- Experience building analytics or data products, where model output is served through an app
- Experience running an engineering team shared across products
