Job Description
- Serve as Engineering Drawing Subject Matter Expert, bridging engineering practices with product development.
- Create, interpret, review, and approve engineering drawings using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Onshape).
- Collaborate with Product Management, UX Design, Engineering, Customer Success, and customers to influence product roadmap and feature development.
- Guide understanding of drawing production across industries: consumer products, industrial machinery, tooling, sheet metal, machined components, weldments, furniture, electronics, complex assemblies.
- Advise on international and regional drawing standards (ASME Y14.x, ISO, DIN, JIS).
- Represent downstream consumers of drawings including manufacturing, machining, fabrication, assembly, quality inspection, procurement, suppliers, and service.
- Manage drawing sign-off and lifecycle processes.
- Validate product designs and features through reviews, prototypes, and customer engagements.
- Create reference workflows, best practices, demonstrations, and educational materials.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 10+ years industry experience creating and reviewing engineering drawings in manufacturing environments; 7+ years relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of complete engineering drawing lifecycle from concept through production support.
- Deep knowledge of engineering drawing standards and practices including GDCT, ASME, ISO, DIN, JIS.
- Experience across multiple manufacturing domains: consumer products, industrial machinery, tooling, sheet metal, machined components, weldments, complex assemblies.
- Hands-on experience with professional CAD systems for production drawings (SolidWorks or equivalent).
- Understanding of drawing lifecycle management and release processes.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with PLM, PDM, or ERP systems.
- Background in design reviews, supplier collaboration, or manufacturing engineering.
- Preferred educational background includes Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or Civil Engineering.
- Strong communication skills preferred; ability to interact with customers and advocate for their needs.
