Profile: People & Talent Head [Founding HR Builder]
Location: On site- Gurgaon
Category: Leadership - Reports to Founders
Why this role exists:
Edoofa’s next phase of growth will not be constrained by demand or opportunity.
It will be constrained by talent quality. We are moving from a tightly-knit group of early Dukaandaars to a scaled organization operating across sales, employability, student success, and global partnerships. The difference between a ₹100 crore company and a ₹500 crore institution is not strategy — it is who gets hired, who stays, and who grows.
This role exists to build Edoofa’s talent engine from scratch. You are not inheriting an HR department. You are creating the systems, standards, and culture that determine who gets to build Edoofa over the next decade.
What you will own ( 0 to 1 Accountability) :
1. Talent Acquisition as a Competitive Advantage
- Own end-to-end hiring for leadership, mid-level, and high-impact entry roles
- Build hiring playbooks that prioritise ownership, grit, and judgment over pedigree
- Design sourcing strategies for top campuses, referrals, and lateral hires
- Raise the hiring bar continuously as Edoofa scales
Hiring quality is the single biggest lever you control.
2. Founder-Aligned Hiring & Culture Design
- Translate the founder’s expectations into clear hiring signals and filters
- Ensure only true Dukaandaars enter the system
- Protect culture by being willing to say “no” — even under growth pressure
You are the gatekeeper of trust.
3. Performance, Growth & Retention Systems
- Build performance frameworks aligned to outcomes, not activity
- Design growth paths that reward ownership, not tenure
- Identify high-potential Dukaandaars early and accelerate their growth
- Reduce regretted attrition through clarity, feedback, and fairness
People stay where growth is real.
4. People Operations & HR Infrastructure (Built for Scale)
- Own payroll, compliance, EPF, ESIC, contracts, and HR hygiene
- Build clean, simple systems — not heavy bureaucracy
- Hire and manage HR ops/admin support when scale demands it
Operations should enable, not slow down builders.
5. Leadership Enablement
- Coach managers and leaders on hiring, feedback, and people decisions
- Act as a sounding board for difficult people calls
- Help the company mature without losing its edge
This is quiet, high-leverage work.
Important Clarification on Ownership & Operating Style
While this role will evolve into the steward of Edoofa’s people systems, it starts as a deeply hands-on, individual contributor role.
In the early phase, you will personally do the work — sourcing candidates, writing job descriptions, screening resumes, running first conversations, coordinating interviews, and closing talent. There is no large team beneath you at the start. The leverage comes from judgment, taste, and execution, not headcount.
As Edoofa scales, you will design systems and hire support where it genuinely adds value. But this role is intentionally built for someone who is comfortable building first, delegating later — and who finds pride in doing real work well.
This is a role for a builder of talent engines, not a manager of HR processes.
What makes this role extraordinary:
This is a Founding Talent & People Builder role — the first HR hire at Edoofa.
You will have the rare opportunity to build the People function from the ground up at a company that has already cracked zero to one and is now switching on its one to ten flywheels. Edoofa is moving from early momentum to repeatable growth, and the journey toward ₹500 Cr in revenue will be shaped significantly by the quality of people we work with.
The systems, standards, and judgment you bring to hiring will directly influence how fast Edoofa scales, how strong its culture remains under pressure, and how effectively those flywheels compound over time.
You won’t just support growth. You will help determine who gets to build it.

High-Ownership Careers where you Build, Hustle & Grow
Company Profile - Who We Are
Edoofa was founded in 2017 with a simple belief: higher education should build careers, not just secure admissions.
Most players in international education focus on getting students into colleges. Edoofa focuses on what happens after. We take ownership of the entire journey — admissions, scholarships, mentorship, employability training, internships, and international career pathways. Education, for us, is not a transaction. It is accountability for outcomes.
Edoofa is built for Africa’s next generation. While most higher education programs in India are designed around domestic students, Edoofa exists to serve ambitious African youth who want globally relevant degrees and real earning power. By combining accredited degrees from top Indian universities with an employability-first operating model, Edoofa functions like an asset-light university — focused not on campuses or infrastructure, but on access, affordability, and long-term outcomes.
Today, Edoofa is the largest and most trusted higher education platform in the Africa–India corridor. More than 6,500 students from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa, Ghana, and other African nations have joined us. Over 65% of enrollments come through alumni referrals. That number matters more than any marketing metric — it reflects trust built through results, not promises. Our alumni are earning, progressing, creating wealth, and changing expectations for what education can deliver.
Edoofa’s foundation was laid long before 2017. In 2009, Avreen and Angad Singh started Anhad Edutrain Solutions Pvt Ltd, which became a decade-long proving ground. Over the years, the team partnered with 200+ Indian universities, worked with institutions and ministries, and ran employability initiatives at scale. There were experiments, failures, resets, and breakthroughs. What never changed was the conviction: higher education must be affordable, outcome-driven, and transformative. Anhad was the proving ground; Edoofa is its enduring expression.
Why Africa
Africa sits at the center of Edoofa’s long-term opportunity — and our growth strategy is built in clear phases.
The first phase, the ₹10 to ₹100 crore journey, is already underway. Today, Edoofa enables ~1,000 African students a year to access Indian higher education through a fully owned admissions-to-employability model. Over the last five years, the average ticket size per enrollment has grown from ~₹50,000 per student to ~₹1,00,000 per student last year, driven by stronger programs, deeper outcomes, and trust built on delivery. With new university contracts and employability integrations now in place, we expect this to grow to ₹1.5–2 lakhs per student over the next 2–3 years. Scaling this proven engine to 5,000–6,000 enrollments annually takes Edoofa to the ₹100 crore milestone - not through experimentation, but by compounding what already works.
The next phase - ₹100 to ₹500 crore and beyond - is where the opportunity becomes structural.
Africa has a population exceeding 1.4 billion, a median age of ~19, and fewer than 2,000 institutions capable of delivering higher education with real employability outcomes. The gap between aspiration and access is enormous — and growing every year. Solving this is not about incremental expansion. It requires building a new model of higher education and coaching, delivered closer to students, adapted to local realities, and integrated with global career pathways.
This is where Edoofa’s next chapter lies: taking the systems, outcomes, and credibility built through the India corridor and extending them into Africa — through local education programs, coaching platforms, employability infrastructure, and new technology-led models. This is the journey from bringing Africans to India first, and then taking quality, outcome-driven Indian education to Africa itself.
Few problems are harder. Fewer still matter more.
This is the scale of ambition Edoofa is built for — and the scale of problems our next set of Dukaandaars will help solve.
Why Build at Edoofa
Edoofa is not built for people looking for entitlement, safety, or predictable ladders.
If you’re looking for a “good brand name” to sit inside quietly, Edoofa is not for you. If you’re looking for a place where entitlements come before ownership, Edoofa is not for you.
But if you want to build something that matters — with speed, chaos, responsibility, and a mission big enough to scare you — this is one of the rare places where you can grow faster than any structured career path will allow.
At Edoofa, we hire Dukaandaars — people who treat their role like a business. That means: you don’t get handed comfort. You get handed a problem. And if you solve it, you earn trust, responsibility, and growth at a pace most careers don’t offer.
You will get:
- Founder-level exposure and real decision-making proximity
- A front-row seat to scaling a global institution across continents
- Hard, complex problems spanning growth, revenue, operations, student experience, employability, and careers
- A culture where execution wins, not credentials
- The chance to build a reputation, not just a resume
And yes — the earning upside is real. Edoofa rewards top performers disproportionately. The starting package is only the entry point. For the highest-ownership Dukaandaars, the trajectory can look like this:
- 2x by Year 2
- 3–4x by Year 5
- And for a small number of exceptional builders, a genuine chance to earn their first crore, and even their first million dollars (₹8–10 Cr) in the next 3-5 years as the company plans structured liquidity opportunities for the very best performers.
That isn’t just a promise. It’s an invitation to earn your way into rare outcomes, which a regular job won’t ever be able to offer. Many of our early team members grew into Dukaandaars — scaling verticals, building systems, creating impact, and proving that Edoofa isn’t just a workplace. It’s a launchpad for builders.
And now, Edoofa is hiring for its next wave of Dukaandaars. This is not a placement. It is not a safe first job. It is an arena for builders.
If you are ambitious and high growth chasing performer who wants proximity to founders, exposure to complex real-world problems, accelerated learning, and a career that compounds rather than progresses linearly, Edoofa offers something increasingly rare: the chance to be a founder of your own high performance career - a founder without the financial liability of starting up on your own, a founder without the uncertainty and lack of resources, capital or ideas and be a founder of your own financial freedom!
