About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and highly driven Editor-in-Chief to lead the editorial vision and operations of a new journalism-based digital news and media platform, being developed as a sister company of Himalayan Adhesives.
The Editor-in-Chief will be responsible for establishing the publication's editorial identity, developing newsroom operations, leading the editorial team, and ensuring the delivery of credible, timely, engaging, and high-quality journalism across digital platforms.
This is a senior leadership position suited for an experienced media professional with a strong background in journalism, editorial management, newsroom leadership, and digital publishing.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall editorial vision, strategy, and content direction of the digital news platform.
- Establish and manage day-to-day newsroom and editorial operations.
- Lead a team of reporters, editors, correspondents, content writers, and other editorial professionals.
- Oversee news gathering, reporting, editing, fact-checking, and publishing.
- Develop editorial coverage across news, current affairs, business, politics, interviews, opinions, features, and other relevant subjects.
- Ensure accuracy, credibility, originality, and consistency in all published content.
- Develop editorial policies, workflows, quality standards, and review mechanisms.
- Identify important and emerging stories and establish appropriate editorial priorities.
- Build a strong network of journalists, correspondents, industry experts, professionals, and reliable sources.
- Work closely with the digital, social media, video, SEO, and technology teams to strengthen the platform's digital presence.
- Develop strategies for audience engagement, content distribution, and digital growth.
- Monitor content performance and audience trends to support editorial planning.
- Ensure appropriate source verification and responsible journalistic practices.
- Oversee interviews, special features, investigative stories, and major editorial projects.
- Represent the publication at relevant media, industry, and public events.
- Contribute to the long-term development and positioning of the publication as a professional digital media platform.
Candidate Profile
- 15+ years of professional experience in journalism, news media, digital publishing, editorial management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a senior editorial/newsroom leadership position.
- Strong understanding of journalism, news gathering, editorial processes, and digital media.
- Experience in building, managing, and mentoring editorial teams.
- Excellent writing, editing, communication, and storytelling skills.
- Strong understanding of digital journalism, social media, SEO, video content, and online publishing.
- Ability to develop and execute a long-term editorial strategy.
- Strong professional network within the media and journalism ecosystem will be an advantage.
- Experience in launching, managing, or scaling a digital news platform will be highly valued.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the complete editorial function.
