Job Role: DevOps Engineer

About us:
We're a small, fast-moving engineering team building an AI-powered product that automates slow, manual, expert-heavy work. We're moving toward our first enterprise deployment and need someone to build infrastructure that supports it at scale and can pass SOC 2 and other security and compliance certifications. You will not be maintaining someone else's setup. You will be building ours from the ground up and then running it.
What you'll do:
• Own our infrastructure end to end: stand it up from zero, then operate, scale, and continuously improve it as we grow toward production and enterprise use.
• Design and build CI/CD pipelines from scratch so releases are automated, tested, and safe.
• Achieve zero-downtime and blue-green deployments across our services.
• Stand up observability from the ground up (logging, metrics, alerting) so we catch issues before customers do.
• Architect, harden, and manage our cloud environment (AWS: EC2, S3, IAM, networking etc.) and handle secrets and access properly.
• Set up our data policy, caches, and cloud infrastructure, keep them healthy under real load, and establish backups and disaster recovery.
• Optimize infrastructure cost as usage grows.
• Drive security-certification process (SOC 2 / ISO 27001): access controls, evidence collection, and hardening.
Must have:
• 3 to 5 years in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering, with proven experience setting up infrastructure and pipelines from scratch, not only maintaining systems someone else built.
• Has personally taken a project from "no infrastructure" to "running in production": provisioned the cloud, built the CI/CD, and shipped it live.
• Strong Docker and container-based deployment experience, including designing the setup, not just using an existing one.
• Built CI/CD pipelines from the ground up (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar).
• Solid AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC and networking) and Linux, with the ability to architect a clean environment.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Comfortable scripting in Bash and/or Python to automate setup and operations.
• Production experience running PostgreSQL and Redis, including setup, backups, and recovery.
• Set up a monitoring and alerting stack from scratch (Prometheus / Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar).
• Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or other compliance and security work.
Nice to have:
• Production experience running Python services (FastAPI or similar) and background job queues (RQ, Celery).
• Cost and performance optimization at scale, including third-party API and AI or LLM spend.
• Compliance automation tooling (Vanta, Drata) for SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
• Kubernetes or other container orchestration.
