(A) JOB SUMMARY
Are you ready to start your career in DevOps and cloud infrastructure? We're looking for a Trainee DevOps Engineer / Junior DevOps Engineer to join us. This role is your launchpad into modern DevOps — you'll build a strong foundation in CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, containers, and monitoring, all with guidance from senior DevOps engineers. You'll:
• Learn how CI/CD pipelines are set up and help keep them running smoothly
• Assist in deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting applications
• Get hands-on exposure to cloud platforms, containers, and infrastructure-as-code
• Help automate routine operational tasks
We're looking for someone with a good grip on Linux, networking, and scripting basics, and genuine curiosity about cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps tooling — no prior work experience needed.
(B) JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITY
1. CI/CD Support
• Help build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
• Support build, test, and deployment automation for applications
• Help troubleshoot failed pipeline runs, with guidance from your team
• Learn to integrate automated testing and quality gates into pipelines
2. Cloud & Infrastructure Exposure
• Get hands-on exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Assist in provisioning and managing basic cloud resources under supervision
• Learn Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Support cost, security, and configuration hygiene checks
3. Containers & Orchestration Basics
• Learn Docker fundamentals — how to build, run, and manage containers
• Get an introduction to Kubernetes concepts (pods, deployments, services)
• Assist in deploying containerized applications in test/staging environments
4. Monitoring & Incident Support
• Learn to use monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and CloudWatch
• Assist in setting up basic alerts and dashboards
• Support senior engineers during incident triage and log analysis
• Document runbooks and troubleshooting steps
5. Scripting & Automation
• Write basic automation scripts in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
• Assist in automating repetitive operational tasks
• Learn configuration management basics using Ansible or similar tools
6. Version Control & Collaboration
• Work with Git for version control of scripts, configs, and pipelines
• Follow branching and code-review practices used by the team
• Log and track tasks and issues in Jira
7. Learning & Development
• Pick up networking fundamentals — DNS, load balancing, firewalls
• Build understanding of security basics in DevOps (secrets management, access control)
• Participate in training sessions on cloud, automation, and DevOps best practices
• Seek feedback and continuously improve technical skills
(C) QUALIFICATION & SKILLSET
Core DevOps Knowledge
• 0-1 years of experience — internships or academic/personal projects in DevOps or cloud are a bonus, not a requirement
• Good grasp of Linux/Unix systems and the command line
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals (IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS)
• Willingness to learn CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions)
Programming & Technical Aptitude
• Basic scripting knowledge in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
• Familiarity with Git and version control workflows
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Cloud & Container Awareness (Good to Have)
• Basic familiarity with a cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP) — free-tier or coursework exposure is fine
• Conceptual understanding of Docker and containers
• Interest in Kubernetes and container orchestration
Nice-to-Have
• Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Relevant certifications (AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, etc.)
• Interest in geospatial/GIS or telecom infrastructure systems
EDUCATION
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering / IT or related field
• Cloud fundamentals certification (AWS/Azure/GCP) is a plus (not mandatory)
GROWTH TRAITS
• Strong eagerness to learn and grow in DevOps and cloud engineering
• Comfort working with command-line tools and troubleshooting
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• Openness to feedback and mentorship
• Proactive approach to picking up new tools and technologies
Why This Role Matters
• A structured entry point into a modern, cloud-first DevOps career path
• Direct mentorship from senior DevOps engineers and exposure to real production systems
• Opportunity to build strong infrastructure and automation fundamentals on enterprise-grade products
• Clear growth path toward cloud, SRE, and platform engineering roles
Why Join Lepton Software:
• Fast-paced, growth-focused environment
• Real mentorship from senior DevOps engineers, right from day one
• Hands-on exposure to cloud, containers, and modern automation tools
• A supportive, learning-first culture built for early-career professionals
