Design Engineer – Plumbing & Fire Fighting
Location: West Mogappair, Chennai
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop plumbing and fire-fighting systems for commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and review design drawings, layouts, schematics, technical specifications, and design documentation.
- Design domestic water supply, drainage, soil/waste, storm-water and other plumbing systems.
- Design fire-fighting systems including fire hydrant, sprinkler, fire hose reel, fire pump, fire tank and related systems.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, pressure-drop calculations and flow calculations for plumbing and fire-fighting systems.
- Prepare equipment schedules, material specifications, BOQs and technical submittals.
- Coordinate with Architectural, Structural, HVAC, Electrical and BIM teams to resolve design and coordination issues.
- Review BIM models and drawings to identify clashes, design conflicts and constructability issues.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant international/local codes, standards, authority requirements and project specifications.
- Review shop drawings, contractor submissions and technical documents.
- Provide technical support to the site/project team during execution and resolve design-related queries.
- Participate in design review meetings, coordination meetings and client/consultant discussions.
- Incorporate client/consultant comments and ensure timely closure of design-related issues.
- Conduct site visits when required to verify existing conditions and support project execution.
- Maintain proper documentation and revision control for drawings and design deliverables.
- Support project teams in achieving design deliverables within the agreed schedule, quality and budget.
Eligibility- B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in Plumbing & Fire Fighting design.
- Experience in MEP consultancy, EPC, construction or engineering design projects.
- Candidates with experience in commercial, residential, industrial, infrastructure or high-rise projects are preferred.
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams
