Conserve India is a Delhi-based non-profit organisation working at the intersection of environmental sustainability, circular economy, livelihood development and social inclusion. The organisation designs and implements initiatives related to textile and plastic circularity, artisan and waste-worker livelihoods, skill development, enterprise development, research and stakeholder engagement.
Role Overview
The Deputy Project Manager will support the planning, coordination, documentation and monitoring of Conserve India’s projects and organisational initiatives. Based in Delhi/NCR, the position will work across one or more programmes according to organisational priorities. The role requires strong coordination, writing, research and follow-up skills, along with the ability to work with field teams, technical experts, partners and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and management of project workplans, timelines, activity calendars and deliverable trackers.
- Coordinate with project managers, field teams, consultants, institutional partners and other stakeholders.
- Track agreed actions and follow up to ensure that activities and deliverables are completed on time.
- Prepare meeting notes, progress reports, presentations, concept notes, activity briefs and other project documents.
- Consolidate field updates, monitoring data, photographs, participant records and supporting evidence.
- Assist in organising stakeholder consultations, workshops, training programmes, field visits and review meetings.
- Undertake secondary research and contribute to project proposals, reports and knowledge products.
- Support monitoring of project risks, dependencies and delays, and escalate concerns to the relevant project lead.
- Assist with project-related administrative, procurement and financial coordination in consultation with the operations and finance teams.
- Undertake field travel and provide implementation support when required.
- Contribute to other closely related programme coordination, research and documentation assignments within Conserve India.
- Assignments may change according to organisational priorities but will remain aligned with the overall responsibilities and competencies of the position.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social sciences, development studies, public policy, environmental studies, sustainability, management or a related field.
- Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in project or programme coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to manage workplans, trackers, deadlines and multi-stakeholder follow-ups.
- Strong writing, documentation, research and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with digital collaboration and project-management tools is desirable.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Hindi.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments and coordinate across teams.
- Willingness to undertake periodic field travel.
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: circular economy or environmental sustainability; textile or plastic waste management; livelihood and enterprise development; artisan, informal-worker or community-based initiatives; CSR, foundation-funded or development-sector projects; and monitoring, evaluation or donor reporting.
