Role: CHA Executive / Manager
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Customs House Agent (CHA) professional with
strong expertise in perishable goods, air cargo, food products, and time-sensitive
import/export shipments. The candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end
customs clearance activities, coordinating with customs authorities, airlines, freight
forwarders, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to ensure smooth and compliant
movement of cargo.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end customs clearance for import and export shipments,
particularly perishable and food products.
• Handle customs documentation, including Shipping Bills, Bills of Entry, invoices,
packing lists, certificates, permits, and other statutory documents.
• Coordinate with Air Cargo Complexes, Customs, Airport Authorities, DGFT, FSSAI,
Plant Quarantine, Animal Quarantine and other regulatory authorities as
applicable.
• Ensure timely clearance of perishable and temperature-sensitive cargo to
minimize detention, demurrage, spoilage, and business losses.
• Manage customs procedures for food items, agricultural products, fresh produce,
processed foods, and other regulated commodities.
• Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, transporters, warehouses, cold-chain
partners, and CHA/customs teams.
• Monitor shipment status from arrival/departure through customs clearance and
final delivery.
• Verify HS codes, customs duties, exemptions, classifications, and applicable
regulatory requirements.
• Ensure accurate filing of customs declarations and supporting documentation.
• Handle queries, assessments, examinations, inspections, and queries raised by
Customs or other government authorities.
• Maintain proper records of customs documentation, approvals, clearances, and
compliance-related correspondence.
• Track changes in customs regulations, import/export policies, FSSAI
requirements, and other applicable regulations.
• Identify potential clearance issues in advance and proactively resolve operational
bottlenecks.
• Coordinate with internal procurement, logistics, finance, warehouse, and sales
teams for smooth shipment execution.
• Support customs audits, compliance reviews, and reconciliation of duties and
related charges.
• Maintain strong working relationships with customs officials, regulatory
authorities, airlines, and logistics partners.
Required Experience
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in CHA/customs clearance, freight forwarding, or
international logistics.
• Proven experience handling air cargo and airport customs clearance.
• Strong experience with perishable goods and food-related imports/exports is
highly preferred.
• Experience dealing with FSSAI, Plant Quarantine, Animal Quarantine and other
regulatory clearances will be an advantage.
• Experience in handling urgent/time-sensitive shipments and temperature-
controlled cargo.
• Good understanding of Indian Customs procedures, EXIM documentation, HS
classification, duties, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with customs portals/systems and electronic filing processes.
• Strong coordination skills with Customs, airlines, freight forwarders, transporters,
and regulatory bodies.
Educational Qualification
• Graduate in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, Commerce, or a related
field.
• Relevant CHA/customs certification or professional qualification will be an
