Role: Specialist - CFM Group (Capricorn Fund Managers)
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and growing fund management environment. We are seeking self-starters who are quick learners and take ownership of their responsibilities with a proactive approach.
We are looking for a risk professional to focus primarily on our structured credit managers, but also other strategies as relevant. Your role is to ensure that each manager operates within their mandate, complies with AIFMD risk requirements, while maintaining a strong and independent oversight framework. This is a governancefocused oversight role to ensure our regulatory responsibilities are met and that our managers operate within their agreed risk frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
AIFMD Risk Oversight
Ensure compliance with AIFMD Articles 15 and 16 (risk management & liquidity management).
Review daily/weekly portfolio transparency reports provided by managers.
Review monthly trustee reports in relation to CLOs
Verify adherence to:
leverage limits
liquidity management requirements
concentration risk limits
mandatespecific investment restrictions
Review and challenge managerprovided risk metrics
Maintain an independent risk oversight record for each manager.
Support preparation and signoff of AIFMD Annex IV reporting.
Mandate & Limit Compliance
Monitor compliance with constraints and caps
Identify breaches or earlywarning indicators and escalate appropriately.
Oversight Reporting
Work under guidance of the CRO and Head of Risk who is developing the framework for oversight of structured credit managers
Review manager/trustee provided monthly CLO reports for consistency and mandate alignment.
Maintain clear documentation for FCA/DFSA inspections and internal audits.
Engage with portfolio managers to discuss risk metrics, portfolio changes, and mandate compliance as needed.
Provide credible challenge where assumptions or explanations require clarification.
Required Skills & Experience
CLO / Structured Credit Knowledge
Some knowledge of the following is preferred:
OC/IC tests and cushions
CCC bucket mechanics
WARF/WAS/WAL
Par build/loss dynamics
Cashflow waterfall behaviour
Reinvestment tests and constraints
However candidates with strong risk analytical skills will be considered.
Background
Typically 2-3 years in:
Fund governance or risk oversight
Structured credit operations or surveillance/rating agency
Credit risk or leveraged finance (with CLO exposure)
Core Competencies
Strong analytical judgement (but not a quant role)
Ability to challenge portfolio managers constructively
Excellent documentation and governance discipline
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Ability to interpret complex investment mandates
