Project: Plastic-Free Gurugram (PFG)

Location: Delhi/Gurugram
Primary Function:
· The Community Mobilizer will play a crucial role in mobilizing communities, facilitating project implementation, monitoring field activities, and assisting in logistics management.
The role focuses on eliminating Single-Use Plastics (SUP), promoting waste segregation at the source, and ensuring the sustainable management of community-led waste solutions across target RWAs, malls, and slum clusters in Gurugram.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Engage with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), local shopkeepers, and community leaders to raise awareness about the project goals- PRIMARY POINT OF CONTACT (PoC)
· Conduct activities in 20 target RWAs within the project cluster for deep engagement.
· Organize and lead community meetings, awareness sessions, and behavioural change communication (BCC) activities.
· Facilitate the participation of local stakeholders, including youth groups and women’s committees, in plastic waste reduction efforts.
· Identify strategic community spaces for awareness kiosks, street plays, and plastic collection corners.
· Conduct field reconnaissance to collect household data, current waste disposal patterns, and existing segregation practices.
· Perform regular field visits to verify the adoption of no-SUP policies and the use of sustainable alternatives.
· Utilize digital tools for geo-tagging key waste points, bin placement areas, and potential project intervention sites.
· Support the implementation of skill-building activities and behavioural change sessions for mall vendors and cinema staff.
· Oversee the distribution of sustainable alternatives (e.g., cloth bags) and the installation of awareness signage/posters.
· Plan and manage the logistics for bin allocation and the setup of "Bottle-in-Bottle-out" (BiBo) machines or collection kiosks.
· Collaborate with Safai Saathis (waste pickers) to ensure that segregated waste is being collected and recorded as per project guidelines.
· Act as a liaison between the project team and Safai inspectors.
· Facilitate convergence with existing government waste management schemes to ensure project sustainability.
· Support the Project manager in organizing launch events, award ceremonies, and media outreach activities.
Documentation & Reporting:
· Maintain meticulous records of all field activities, including meeting minutes, attendance logs, and distribution registers.
· Assist the M&E team by providing field-level data for monthly weight sheets and RWA performance scorecards.
· Capture geo-tagged photos and prepare field notes to help develop success stories and case studies for donor reporting.
· Report operational challenges and suggested solutions to the Project Head on a weekly basis.
· Maintain records of project activities, progress, and challenges.
· Prepare periodic reports, case studies, and success stories for documentation and knowledge sharing in guidance with Consultant Project coordinator & OneStage Team.
· Reporting on daily basis and any other related activity as may be deemed suitable by the reporting manager.
