Job details:
We are looking for a finance-led Commercial Performance Manager with strong Ecommerce experience to provide commercial insight, performance analysis and business partnering across Pelsis’ global Ecommerce channels.
This role sits at the intersection of Finance and Ecommerce, combining strong financial and commercial capability with a detailed understanding of Ecommerce performance. You’ll work closely with Ecommerce leadership and teams across Finance, Commercial, Marketing and Supply Chain to provide a clear understanding of how our Ecommerce business is performing and where opportunities exist to improve growth and profitability.
You’ll bring together sales, revenue, margin, pricing, profitability, inventory and operational Ecommerce data, using your financial background to understand what sits behind the numbers and translate performance into meaningful commercial insight.
This is not simply a reporting role. You’ll be expected to challenge forecasts and assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, evaluate commercial initiatives and provide recommendations that influence business decisions.
Your Ecommerce experience will be critical. You’ll understand the dynamics of online trading, marketplaces, product and channel performance and how pricing, promotions, inventory availability and operational decisions ultimately impact revenue and profitability.
How You’ll Make an Impact
As a key commercial finance partner to Ecommerce, you’ll take ownership of Ecommerce insights and performance reporting, ensuring leadership has accurate, timely and actionable information to support decision-making.
You will:
- Own daily, weekly and monthly Ecommerce performance reporting, tracking revenue, sales, margin and profitability against budget, forecast and prior periods.
- Analyse performance across Ecommerce channels, marketplaces, products, categories and markets, identifying the drivers behind performance.
- Turn Ecommerce data into clear commercial insight, explaining what is happening, why it is happening and what action should be taken.
- Produce weekly trading reports, monthly business reviews, dashboards and leadership reporting packs with meaningful financial and commercial commentary.
- Partner with Ecommerce leadership to understand trading performance and provide financial challenge and support around commercial decisions.
- Monitor revenue, gross margin, contribution and profitability, identifying margin leakage and opportunities to improve commercial returns.
- Analyse pricing and promotional performance, assessing the impact on sales, margin, inventory and ROI and recommending appropriate actions.
- Support Ecommerce budgeting, forecasting and commercial planning, using current trading performance and historical trends to challenge and improve assumptions.
- Develop scenario and sensitivity models for pricing changes, promotions, product launches and other Ecommerce initiatives.
- Build and review business cases, investment proposals and ROI analysis to support Ecommerce growth initiatives.
- Analyse performance at SKU, product, category, marketplace and channel level, identifying areas of growth and underperformance.
- Work closely with Supply Chain to understand how availability, stock-outs, excess inventory, slow-moving stock and fulfilment performance are impacting Ecommerce sales and profitability.
- Identify emerging Ecommerce risks and opportunities and proactively work with stakeholders to agree appropriate actions.
- Present findings and recommendations in trading reviews, monthly business reviews and leadership meetings.
- Develop and improve Ecommerce KPIs, dashboards and reporting, creating greater visibility and consistency across the business.
- Improve reporting automation and scalability using Power BI, Excel and Power Query.
- Provide ad-hoc financial modelling and Ecommerce analysis to support strategic and operational decisions.
What You’ll Bring
For this role, we are specifically looking for someone who can demonstrate both a strong finance background and meaningful Ecommerce experience.
You’ll bring:
- Strong experience within Commercial Finance, FP&A, Finance Business Partnering, Management Accounting or a similar finance-led commercial role.
- Previous Ecommerce experience is essential, ideally within a multi-channel, marketplace, retail, consumer products or digitally led business.
- Demonstrable experience analysing Ecommerce sales, revenue, margin, profitability and trading performance.
- Experience working with Ecommerce performance at SKU, product, category, channel and/or marketplace level.
- A strong understanding of Ecommerce commercial drivers including pricing, promotions, product mix, inventory availability, margin and profitability.
- Experience working with online marketplaces such as Amazon or similar Ecommerce platforms would be highly valuable.
- Strong experience of budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial planning.
- Experience developing financial models, scenario analysis, business cases and ROI assessments.
- A recognised or part-qualified finance qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent would be advantageous.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large and complex financial and Ecommerce datasets.
- Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools to develop dashboards and performance reporting.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to connect Ecommerce activity to its financial impact on revenue, margin, working capital and profitability.
- Confidence presenting commercial and financial insight to senior stakeholders and constructively challenging assumptions.
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and translate analysis into practical recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work cross-functionally across Ecommerce, Finance, Commercial, Marketing and Supply Chain.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with excellent attention to detail.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Experience within an international or multi-market Ecommerce environment, consumer products, manufacturing or a private equity-backed organisation would also be advantageous.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely understands both the numbers and Ecommerce – someone who can combine financial rigour with Ecommerce trading insight to identify opportunities, challenge performance and help drive profitable growth.
