About Tirumala Technological Services (Tirumala Aerospace):
Tirumala Technological Services (TTS) is a Hyderabad-based aerospace & defence engineering company with 35+ years of industry experience, having worked on prestigious programs and with organizations across India's aerospace and defence ecosystem, including DRDL, RCI, ASL, ISRO.
TTS is now entering its next phase of growth with plans to establish a high-precision aerospace & defence manufacturing facility in Hyderabad, serving Indian and global aerospace and defence OEMs. We are looking for an experienced COO who can build and scale the manufacturing business from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end establishment of TTS's greenfield aerospace & defence manufacturing facility.
- Develop and execute the overall manufacturing strategy, operating model and capacity plan.
- Lead facility planning, layout, machinery selection, installation, commissioning and production ramp-up.
- Build capabilities in CNC machining, 5-axis machining, precision manufacturing, metrology, tooling and electro-mechanical assembly.
- Develop and implement world-class manufacturing processes, SOPs, production systems and quality controls.
- Build and lead the manufacturing, engineering, quality, supply-chain, maintenance and operations teams.
- Own manufacturing P&L, budgets, CAPEX, OPEX and operational performance.
- Establish and drive KPIs including OEE, productivity, quality, on-time delivery, scrap/rejection and machine utilization.
- Lead implementation and compliance of AS9100, ISO 9001 and relevant NADCAP/customer-specific requirements.
- Develop an aerospace-grade supply-chain ecosystem for raw materials, tooling, special processes, heat treatment, coatings, NDT and other critical requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with aerospace & defence OEMs, Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers, DPSUs, DRDO ecosystem and global customers.
- Identify and secure large manufacturing programs, long-term contracts and strategic partnerships.
- Support the CEO in business development and strategic planning.
- Develop opportunities to move TTS from component manufacturing toward higher-value assemblies and integrated manufacturing solutions.
- Implement ERP/MES/QMS, Industry 4.0, automation and digital manufacturing initiatives.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPM and continuous improvement programs.
- Establish a strong culture of Quality, Safety, Delivery, Cost and Operational Excellence.
- Manage key relationships with government bodies, certification agencies, technology partners, investors and other strategic stakeholders.
- Develop the organization and leadership team required to scale TTS into a ₹100+ crore aerospace & defence manufacturing business.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 15–20+ years of experience, preferably 20+ years.
- Proven experience in the Aerospace & Defence industry.
- Demonstrated experience in building/scaling a manufacturing business from the ground up.
- Proven experience establishing and commissioning a greenfield manufacturing facility.
- Strong understanding of precision machining, CNC, 5-axis machining, tooling, metrology and aerospace manufacturing.
- Experience managing manufacturing P&L and large CAPEX projects.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100, aerospace quality systems and customer qualification processes.
- Experience working with major aerospace/defence OEMs and Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers.
- Strong existing network and relationships within the Indian aerospace & defence ecosystem will be highly preferred.
- Experience working with DRDO, DPSUs, ISRO or other government/defence organizations will be an advantage.
- Experience in securing and managing large aerospace/defence manufacturing programs.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Experience leading and scaling cross-functional teams of 50–200+ employees.
- Strong commercial, financial and strategic thinking.
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Production or related discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Operations, Strategy or Business Management is an advantage.
