Role Description The Chess Mentor is a full-time, on-site position based in Gurugram. In this role, the mentor will conduct structured chess sessions for students of varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced players, using clear lesson plans and instructional materials. Day-to-day responsibilities include teaching chess fundamentals and strategy, analyzing games with students, providing feedback on their play, and organizing practice exercises, puzzles, and mock tournaments. The mentor will monitor student progress, maintain session records, communicate with parents or guardians about learning outcomes, and collaborate with the broader tutoring team to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience.
Qualifications
- Strong chess expertise, including opening principles, middlegame strategy, endgame techniques, and game analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to teach or coach, with clear communication skills and a structured approach to lesson planning.
- Experience working with children or young learners, with patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching style to different ages and skill levels.
- Solid organizational skills for managing schedules, tracking student progress, and maintaining learning materials.
- Comfort with basic digital tools and online education platforms to support learning resources and parent communication.
- Prior experience as a chess coach, mentor, or competitive player; formal chess ratings or certifications are an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline preferred, along with a strong interest in education and learner development.
