The Indian Dream Club, an initiative by Indian Startup News, serves founders, entrepreneurs and business professionals through its magazine and community. The Indian Dream magazine features founder stories, industry insights and practical lessons on building businesses.
We are looking for a Business Development Manager to grow paid magazine subscriptions, acquire corporate and institutional customers, and develop circulation partnerships.
This is a hands-on sales role for someone who enjoys identifying opportunities, building relationships and converting conversations into paying subscribers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Drive individual subscriptions, corporate subscription plans and institutional bulk orders.
- Identify and approach potential customers through calls, emails, LinkedIn, meetings, events and referrals.
- Build relationships with companies, business schools, incubators, accelerators, coworking spaces and industry associations.
- Manage the sales process from prospecting and pitching to negotiation, closure and payment collection.
- Follow up with prospects and existing subscribers to drive conversions and renewals.
- Develop circulation and distribution partnerships that help the magazine reach relevant readers.
- Work with the marketing team on subscription offers, referral programmes and sales campaigns.
- Coordinate with the operations team to ensure timely delivery and resolve subscription queries.
- Maintain an organised sales pipeline and track leads, conversions, revenue, renewals and collections.
- Meet agreed monthly and quarterly subscription sales targets.
We are looking for someone with:
- 2–3 years of experience in business development, subscription sales, corporate sales, institutional sales or circulation.
- A track record of meeting sales targets and closing deals.
- Strong communication, pitching, negotiation and follow-up skills.
- The ability to acquire new customers while maintaining existing relationships.
- Working knowledge of CRM tools, Excel or Google Sheets.
- A proactive approach and the ability to manage daily sales activities independently.
- Experience with magazines, newspapers, publishing businesses or paid membership products will be an advantage.
- An existing network of corporate or institutional buyers would also be valuable.
- You will work closely with the founding and marketing teams, with direct ownership of your sales pipeline and an opportunity to help grow the magazine’s subscriber base.
