Job Purpose
The Business Analyst position supports the universities Academics department to ensure the universities information systems function optimally for business operations, workflow processes, and the delivery of student, staff, and faculty support services. The position will also be responsible for working with various user groups (internal and external) to improve the overall capabilities of UCWs systems. The incumbent will work on projects that will have a big impact on student, staff, and faculty experience.
Desired Profile
Qualification
- Overall 12+ years of Experiences with at least 3 years recent experience as a business analyst/systems analyst, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- University degree in information systems, business, computer science or a related field is required
- Experience with SIS in Post Secondary setting strongly desired
- Understanding of data privacy principles in a Canadian context
Skills
- Demonstrated experience working with enterprise software (CRM, ERP, BI etc.) in an analytical capacity
- Demonstrated experience working with various user groups and stakeholders in collecting business requirements and translating them into technical documentation for the development team
- Strong experience with documenting and analyzing business processes to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Office 365 skills
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript, PHP, etc.) is required
- Experience leading and managing system/process improvement projects is required
- Experience creating project and status reports, gap analysis, root cause analysis, requirement documents is required
- Knowledge and experience working with SQL and Power BI is desirable
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and documentation skills are essential to succeeding in this role
- Having a CCBA or similar certification is a bonus
- Experience working with RPA using tools such as Power Automate/UiPath is a bonus
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Through understanding of the SDLC in an agile environment
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during high-volume periods
- Strong analytical, critical & conceptual thinking skills and strong writing skills are required
Relevant
Experience
- 6+ years of total experience as a support analyst/business analyst/systems analyst, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience with SIS in Post Secondary setting strongly desired
- Understanding of data privacy principles in a Canadian context
