Overview
We are seeking an experienced backend engineering leader to help drive the next phase of growth and optimization for a large-scale telecommunications Business Support System (BSS) platform.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys owning complex backend systems, leading technical design initiatives, mentoring engineers, and building highly scalable services that support millions of customers. You will play a key role in shaping platform architecture, improving engineering standards, and ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability across business-critical systems.
What You'll Do
Backend Platform Engineering
- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services supporting:
- Billing platforms
- Customer management (CRM)
- Order management
- Service provisioning
- Subscriber lifecycle management
- Build reliable, production-grade microservices capable of handling large transaction volumes and complex business workflows.
Technical Leadership
- Lead architecture and design discussions for new platform capabilities and enhancements.
- Produce high-level and low-level technical designs (HLD/LLD).
- Drive engineering best practices across development teams.
- Review code and ensure consistency, maintainability, and performance standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product, QA, DevOps, SRE, and engineering stakeholders to deliver end-to-end business solutions.
- Participate in architecture reviews and platform-wide technical planning.
- Align technical decisions with long-term platform strategy and business objectives.
Production Operations
- Troubleshoot complex production issues.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Improve system stability, performance, observability, and resiliency.
Team Development
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical coaching.
- Support the growth of engineering capabilities across the organization.
DevOps & Platform Excellence
- Contribute to CI/CD improvements and continuous delivery initiatives.
- Help advance cloud-native engineering practices.
- Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational tooling.
Engineering Environment
- Distributed engineering teams across multiple international locations.
- Agile development processes with iterative delivery cycles.
- English-language engineering environment.
- Modern cloud-native architecture built on:
- Java
- Spring Boot

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience supporting large-scale production systems.
- Strong Java expertise, including Spring Boot or similar enterprise frameworks.
- Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
- Proven experience building and operating microservice-based systems.
- Strong SQL and relational database knowledge, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with:
- Database design
- Query tuning
- Performance optimization
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, including:
- Eventual consistency
- Fault tolerance
- Asynchronous communication patterns
- Hands-on experience with:
- Docker
- Kubernetes
- Ability to independently own technical design activities and present architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Business-level English communication skills.
