Role Description
The Board Member of Academia Partnership – Probono will contribute to strategic planning and governance for academic collaborations, helping align HackHalt’s mission with educational institutions and training programs. This full-time remote role involves shaping partnership frameworks, advising on curriculum and research initiatives, and ensuring that academic partnerships support the organization’s four-pillar strategy. The Board Member will engage regularly with university leaders, research bodies, and training partners to develop joint programs, review outcomes, and identify opportunities for innovation in cyber education. Responsibilities include attending virtual board and committee meetings, providing guidance on policy and compliance issues related to academia, and supporting fundraising or grant efforts connected to educational projects. The role also requires mentoring key stakeholders, championing best practices in cyber education, and representing HackHalt in academic forums and conferences.
Qualifications
Strong background in academia, education management, or university partnerships, with experience in curriculum design or program development.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, digital safety, or technology policy, and familiarity with AI, cyber research, or related emerging technologies.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, governance, or board-level advisory roles, ideally within nonprofits, educational institutions, or mission-driven organizations.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in remote, cross-cultural, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated capability in building and managing partnerships, including negotiation, agreement structuring, and performance oversight.
- Comfort with data-driven decision-making, including reviewing program metrics, research outcomes, and impact reports.
- Commitment to ethical practices, inclusivity, and non-discriminatory policies in education and organizational governance.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Education, Public Policy, or related discipline) is highly desirable; equivalent experience will also be considered.
