About the Role
As part of the APAC Legal & Compliance team, this role assists the Legal & Compliance Team to provide legal advice, services and support across the business to ensure that client meets all legal, regulatory and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
Legal Advice:
- Providing high quality advice, services and support to the clients on a wide variety of legal matters across APAC.
- Providing advice to the business on relevant/applicable laws including retail leasing, residential tenancies, FIRB, construction, privacy, WHS and other areas of property and commercial law
- Developing and maintaining legal precedents, driving consistency and continuous improvement
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating works and consultancy contracts, product supply agreements, service agreements and other general commercial contracts
- Managing disputes, drafting letters of demand, and providing recommendations for resolution and settlement
- Assisting with the negotiation of lease and license documentation across multiple assets classes
- Assisting on asset disposals and settlement requirements
Document Execution:
- Day-to-day management of document approval and execution procedures
- Arrange document electronic execution via DocuSign
- Maintain document register and provide reports
- Conduct ASIC and DDIQ searches and enquiries
- Verify execution of documents by external parties
- Document management including legal file management
- Maintain contract security register, and undertake regular audit of security held for assets
- Draft and arrange execution and registration of powers of attorney
- Ensure relevant and up-to-date content on the internal intranet
- Managing relationships and accounts with legal support services providers including Dye & Durham and DDIQ (or their equivalents)
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the business and with portfolio companies
Legal Operations:
- Assist in assessing work procedures, providing feedback/suggestions for improvements and implementing improvement processes, where necessary
- Create and/or update standard operating procedures (SOP) and legal precedents
Qualifications
- At least 4+ years of hands-on experience in the legal field, with a minimum of 2+ years PQE gained in a law firm or private practice. Real Estate and/or Hospitality sector experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field from a reputed institute
- Experience working with Australian entities
- Knowledge of general legal and property terminology and principles
- Familiarity with powers of attorney and section 126s and 127 of the Corporations Act Cth
Required Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Meticulous and high attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office, Docusign, AI legal tools and the ability to work with technology solutions
- Able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to gather input and documents
- Well organized, able to prioritize tasks and meet tight timelines
- Able to act autonomously when appropriate and know when to escalate matters
- Comfortable to work both independently and as part of a team
- Motivated and driven to take responsibility for delivering an excellent quality of service
- Strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and ethical mindset
Preferred Industry
- Real Estate and/or Hospitality sector experience preferred.
