Responsibilities
- Manage the claims function in strict accordance with policy, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Analyze claim details and apply your knowledge of claims procedures, product development, and contract provisions to make appropriate, accurate, and timely claim decisions.
- Understand plan provisions, determine eligibility, verify data input, identify accurate benefit levels, coordinate benefits, and make necessary corrections.
- Build, develop, coordinate, and conduct training programs for individuals and teams on a large or small scale.
- Manage and mentor team members, ensuring effective communication of strategy, company goals, and deadlines.
- Assess team performance, motivate members, and communicate concerns and policies between management and team members.
- Effectively manage collaborators, coordinate new migrations, ensure customer happiness, manage operational risks, and foster a culture of innovation and process simplification.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or equivalent experience, or Master's degree or equivalent experience in life sciences preferred.
- Course work in medical/dental terminology and/or industry courses (e.g., LOMA, HIAA, ICA).
- At least 10 years of experience in back office operations concentrating on insurance—whether domestic or international—including claims handling for health insurance, life and disability claims, or underwriting.
- Proficient in MS Office with strong written and verbal communication skills.
