Key Responsibilities
- Monitor news wires, social media, government updates, and multiple news sources for breaking and developing stories.
- Coordinate with reporters, correspondents, camerapersons, and field teams to assign and manage daily news coverage.
- Plan story assignments based on editorial priorities and audience interests.
- Track developing stories and provide real-time updates to the newsroom.
- Verify information from credible sources before assigning or escalating stories.
- Maintain regular communication with bureau offices, reporters, and editorial leadership.
- Assist in planning special coverage for major events, elections, festivals, and breaking news situations.
- Prepare assignment briefs and ensure reporters have all necessary background information.
- Ensure all assignments meet editorial standards, deadlines, and compliance guidelines.
- Maintain a strong network of contacts across government agencies, emergency services, and other key stakeholders.
Required Skills: -
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience as an Assignment Producer, Assignment Desk Executive, News Coordinator, or a similar newsroom role.
- Strong understanding of current affairs, politics, business, and general news.
- Excellent news judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays, if required.
