About the Role
The Assessment Engineer will be responsible for evaluating faulty industrial electronic equipment received from customers by performing technical inspections, root cause analysis, fault diagnosis, and repair feasibility assessments. The role requires expertise in industrial automation products, component-level electronics, and preparation of technical assessment reports to support repair, refurbishment, and customer recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Perform incoming inspection and technical assessment of industrial electronic equipment.
- Diagnose faults through systematic troubleshooting and component-level analysis.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to determine equipment failures.
- Assess repair feasibility, cost, turnaround time, and replacement requirements.
- Evaluate Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Servo Drives, PLCs, HMIs, Industrial PCs, Power Supplies, UPS systems, and electronic control modules.
- Perform electrical and functional testing using standard laboratory equipment.
- Prepare detailed technical assessment reports with repair recommendations.
- Identify failed and obsolete electronic components and recommend equivalent replacements.
- Support quotation teams by providing technical inputs for repair estimates.
- Develop and maintain testing procedures, assessment standards, and documentation.
- Coordinate with Repair Engineers, Procurement, and Quality teams for technical resolutions.
- Verify repaired units through functional validation before final release.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
- Maintain assessment records, failure databases, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or equivalent.
- Certifications in PLC, SCADA, Industrial Automation, or PCB Repair will be an added advantage.
