We're Hiring | Modern Trade Sales Manager – North India
Brand: Hungryboo | Location: Gurugram | Full-time
About Hungryboo
Hungryboo is a growing kids' food brand on a mission to make everyday eating more nutritious, convenient and exciting for children. Our portfolio includes multigrain, spinach and makhana pasta, plant-based sauces and better-for-you snacks, created for modern families who care about taste, nutrition and ingredient quality.
As we expand our offline presence, we are looking for a commercially driven sales professional to lead our Modern Trade expansion across Delhi-NCR and build a strong, sustainable retail distribution network.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on sales professional who can take Hungryboo from an emerging consumer brand to a growing presence across modern retail.
You will own the end-to-end sales process, from identifying retail opportunities and negotiating listings to onboarding distributors, driving secondary sales, improving shelf visibility and building long-term relationships with retail partners.
This is a growth-building role for someone who enjoys opening new accounts, creating opportunities and delivering measurable revenue.
Key Responsibilities
1. Modern Trade Expansion
- Develop and execute the modern trade sales strategy for North India.
- Identify, approach and onboard relevant supermarket chains, hypermarkets, premium grocery stores and health-focused retailers.
- Build relationships with category managers, retail buyers and regional procurement teams.
- Drive product listings, commercial negotiations, purchase orders and account onboarding.
- Explore opportunities with relevant chains such as Reliance Retail, DMart, More, Nature's Basket, Le Marche and other suitable retail accounts, subject to category fit.
2. Distributor & Channel Development
- Identify and appoint suitable distributors and channel partners across priority North Indian markets.
- Develop territory-wise distribution plans, sales targets and market coverage.
- Manage distributor performance, stock availability, replenishment and payment collections.
- Build strong relationships with channel partners to ensure consistent product availability and business growth.
3. Sales & Revenue Growth
- Develop monthly and quarterly sales plans and achieve agreed revenue targets.
- Drive both primary sales to distributors and secondary sales to retail outlets.
- Track retailer-level offtake, reorder cycles, inventory and sales performance.
- Identify opportunities to increase SKU penetration, average order value and repeat purchases.
4. Trade Marketing & Retail Execution
- Plan and execute in-store promotions, product sampling, merchandising and visibility initiatives.
- Coordinate with marketing on retail activation, promotional schemes and seasonal campaigns.
- Ensure strong shelf presence, product availability and effective in-store communication.
- Monitor trade promotion effectiveness and optimise spends based on sales outcomes.
5. Business Planning & Reporting
- Prepare sales forecasts, territory plans and account-wise growth plans.
- Track sales performance, distributor margins, trade spends, collections and profitability.
- Share regular market intelligence, competitor activity and retailer feedback.
- Work closely with the founders and internal teams to build a scalable offline sales business.
What We Are Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in FMCG sales, modern trade, key account management or retail distribution.
- Proven experience working with modern retail chains and their buying or category teams.
- Prior experience in packaged foods, snacks, breakfast foods, kids' food, health foods or related consumer categories is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to acquire new accounts, negotiate listings and grow existing business.
- Strong understanding of distributor economics, retail margins, trade schemes and secondary sales.
- Commercial acumen, analytical skills and the ability to manage sales targets and collections.
- A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to work hands-on in a growing brand.
- Willingness to travel across North India as required.
What Success Looks Like
- New retail accounts onboarded and activated.
- Distribution established across priority markets.
- Consistent secondary sales and retailer replenishment.
- Strong distributor productivity and collection discipline.
- Improved shelf visibility and retail offtake.
- Sustainable revenue growth with disciplined trade spending.
Why Join Hungryboo?
- Be part of an emerging consumer brand at an exciting stage of growth.
- Take ownership of building an offline sales channel rather than merely maintaining an established business.
- Work directly with the founders and influence commercial strategy.
- Create a measurable impact on the brand's distribution, revenue and market presence.
