Role Description The AP Physics Mentor role is a part-time, remote position focused on supporting high school students in AP Physics courses. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting one-on-one or small-group online tutoring sessions, explaining complex physics concepts in clear, accessible ways, and guiding students through problem-solving strategies aligned with AP standards. The mentor will review and assign practice problems, provide feedback on student work, and help learners prepare for quizzes, tests, and the AP exam. Additional tasks may include maintaining session records, communicating progress to students and guardians, and collaborating with the EdifyChamps team to refine instructional materials.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of AP Physics curriculum, including mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, and modern physics, with the ability to break down advanced concepts for diverse learners.
- Demonstrated experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring students in physics or related STEM subjects, preferably at the high school or AP level.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a student-centered approach, patience, and the ability to adapt explanations to different learning styles.
- Comfort with online teaching tools and digital platforms, including video conferencing, interactive whiteboards, and learning management systems.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to plan sessions, track student progress, and manage part-time remote work effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physics, Engineering, or a closely related field; prior experience with AP Physics curriculum or exam preparation is highly beneficial.
