B) About the Role:
We are seeking a Demand Forecasting Analyst responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing a suite of Python-based forecasting models within an Energy Portfolio Management System. The role focuses on demand, price, renewable, and weather-driven forecasting across multiple time horizons to support trading, planning, and operational decision-making.
- Develop, implement, and maintain forecasting models using Python for energy portfolio management applications.
- Design and enhance predictive models across multiple forecasting horizons:
- Day-Ahead Forecast
- Intraday Forecast
- Short-Term Load Forecast
- Medium-Term Forecast
- Long-Term Load Forecast
- Annual Forecast
- Weekly Forecast
- Monthly Load Forecast
- Seasonal Load Duration Forecast
- Build and optimize specialized forecasting models including:
- Renewable Energy Forecast (solar, wind generation)
- Weather Forecast integration models
- Price Forecast models for energy markets
- Frequency Forecast models for grid stability
- Forecast Comparison and model benchmarking tools
- Other advanced and experimental forecasting models
- Work with large-scale time series datasets from energy markets, grid systems, and weather sources.
- Develop automated pipelines for data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, validation, and deployment.
- Monitor model performance, drift, and accuracy; implement continuous improvements.
- Collaborate with energy traders, portfolio managers, and data engineering teams to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency of Python-based forecasting code deployed in production systems.
- Document methodologies, assumptions, and model performance metrics clearly.
C) Expectations from the role:
- Strong proficiency in Python programming (must be able to design and write production-grade code).
- Experience with time series forecasting techniques (ARIMA, SARIMA, LSTM, XGBoost, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with data analysis libraries: Pandas, NumPy, SciPy.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch (preferred).
- understanding of energy markets, load forecasting, or portfolio optimization (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience handling multi-source datasets (weather, grid, pricing, renewable generation).
- Follow software engineering best practices (version control, unit testing, logging, documentation).
- Build and maintain automated data pipelines for forecasting workflows.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and timeliness.
D) Required skill set
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to work with complex, noisy, and high-frequency time series data.
- Attention to detail and focus on model accuracy and reliability.
- Ability to communicate technical insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-driven with the ability to work in fast-paced trading/energy environments.
E) Education and Experience
- B. Tech. in Electrical/ Computer Science/IT/Electronics and associated branches from reputed Institutes.
- Experience in the range of 2-6 years in forecasting, data science, or quantitative analytics roles.
- Prior experience in energy, utilities, power trading or forecasting is highly desirable
F) Location
- Base location shall be Mumbai, Maharashtra.
