Role Description The AI Backend Engineer (Agentic Applications) will design, develop, and maintain backend services that power AI-driven agentic applications for EduSkills initiatives. Responsibilities include building scalable APIs, integrating AI models and workflows, and ensuring secure data handling and efficient system performance. The role involves collaborating with front-end developers, data and AI teams, and program stakeholders to translate educational use cases into robust technical solutions. The engineer will participate in code reviews, write clean and well-documented code, and contribute to continuous improvement of the platform architecture. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bhubaneswar, with a compensation range of 3–4 LPA.
🧠 Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop agentic AI systems using modern frameworks and LLMs
- Build multi-step autonomous workflows (planning, reasoning, tool usage)
- Integrate LLMs with APIs, databases, and external tools
- Develop custom tools and function-calling pipelines for LLMs
- Implement web scraping/data extraction pipelines for agent workflows
- Optimize performance, latency, and cost of AI systems in production
- Deploy and scale agent-based applications on cloud infrastructure
- Implement monitoring, logging, and evaluation pipelines for AI agents
- Collaborate with product and frontend teams to deliver AI-powered features
✅ Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in Python backend development
- Strong experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks
- Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, etc.)
- Experience working with LLMs (OpenAI, Gemini, open-source models, etc.)
- Proven experience in deploying AI/agentic applications in production
- Understanding of prompt engineering, tool calling, and memory systems
- Experience in building LLM tools, agents, and integrations
- Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, etc.)
☁️ Cloud & Scaling Requirements
- Experience with AWS (EC2, S3) for deployment
- Understanding of scaling strategies for AI systems
- Experience with Docker / containerized deployments
- Knowledge of ECS or serverless architectures is a plus
⭐ Good to Have
- Experience with web scraping frameworks (Playwright, Puppeteer, BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, etc.)
- Experience with real-time streaming / async systems
- Knowledge of evaluation frameworks for LLMs
- Exposure to React / Next.js for AI-driven UI integration
- Experience with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines
- Understanding of cost optimization for LLM usage
