Head of Actuarial Science & Data Science
US Home Insurance
Location / Work Mode: Mysuru / Bangaluru
We're hiring a leader to head Actuarial Science for our US home insurance line, owning pricing, reserving, risk
modelling, and the data science capability that supports them. This is a build-and-run role: you'll set direction, manage a
team, and stay close enough to the technical work to be credible with both actuaries and data scientists.
What You'll Own
Pricing & Reserving
• Oversee pricing model development for US home insurance products — competitive, profitable, and filing-ready
• Direct reserving: loss development analysis, solvency checks, risk segmentation, competitor benchmarking
Data Science & Modelling
• Lead predictive modelling using Python, SQL, GLM/GAM, XGBoost, and platforms like DataRobot and Akur8
• Drive automation of actuarial workflows, dashboards, and reporting
Risk & Compliance
• Partner with catastrophe modelling teams on property risk exposure (hurricane, flood, other perils)
• Provide actuarial input on reinsurance treaties, capital adequacy, and enterprise risk management
• Ensure compliance with US state regulatory requirements, including rate filings
Leadership
• Build and mentor an actuarial + data science team
• Represent actuarial insights at the executive level; translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders
• Partner with product, underwriting, finance, and technology teams to improve data integrity and product performance
Must-Have
• Fully qualified actuary — CAS (FCAS/ACAS) required, or IAI/IFOA with demonstrated US P&C experience
• 20+ years in actuarial roles, including direct client-facing work with US insurance clients and leadership of large
teams/projects
• Hands-on proficiency in Python, SQL, and at least one of R/Tableau/Power BI
• Working knowledge of ML/predictive modelling (GLM, GAM, XGBoost) — doesn't need to be a full-time data
scientist, but must be able to direct and evaluate this work
• Experience with actuarial software (ResQ, ProVal or equivalent)
• Prior team leadership (state team size, e.g. "led teams of 5+")
Nice-to-Have
• Direct experience with DataRobot, Akur8, or similar deployment platforms
• Exposure to catastrophe modelling and reinsurance structuring
• Track record of scaling ML/automation solutions within an actuarial function
