Role Description The Accountant (Jewellery) is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai, responsible for managing end-to-end financial operations for jewellery-related transactions and inventory. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining accurate books of accounts, handling accounts payable and receivable, preparing bank reconciliations, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. The role involves tracking gold and jewellery inventory values, reconciling physical stock with financial records, and ensuring proper valuation and cost allocation for finished goods and raw materials. The accountant will prepare financial reports, assist with budgeting and forecasting, support internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific requirements. Collaboration with procurement, sales, operations, and management teams is expected to ensure accurate financial data and timely reporting.
Qualifications
- Strong foundational accounting skills, including general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Experience with inventory accounting for jewellery or similar commodities (e.g., gold, precious metals, gemstones), including costing, valuation, and stock reconciliation.
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems; strong Microsoft Excel skills for analysis, reporting, and data management.
- Solid understanding of local tax regulations, GST, compliance requirements, and statutory reporting relevant to businesses operating in India.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in high-value, high-volume transaction environments.
- Ability to work on-site in Mumbai, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced, operational setting.
- Relevant educational background such as a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; professional certifications (CA, CMA, or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Prior experience in jewellery, luxury retail, or manufacturing industries is highly desirable; experience in technology-enabled or data-driven environments is a plus.
