Job Title: Academic Head – Preschool & Daycare
Reports To: Director / Management
Job Summary
The Academic Head is responsible for ensuring high-quality curriculum delivery, teacher effectiveness, child development, safety compliance, and smooth academic operations, while delivering a consistent and positive parent experience. Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)
1: Academic Excellence & Curriculum Delivery
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement the curriculum of Preschool & Daycare (Play way / Montessori/ other intelligence).
- Ensure structured lesson planning (annual → monthly → weekly).
- Monitor classroom delivery through observations.
- Standard lesson plan format followed across classes
- Teaching aids & materials checklist maintained
- Daily classroom readiness checklist
- 100% lesson plan adherence
- Monthly classroom observation scores
- Activity execution quality
- Tabs on current trends into curriculums, activities and planner.
2: Teacher Performance & Training
Responsibilities:
- Train teachers on phonics, storytelling, classroom management.
- Conduct demo sessions and performance reviews.
- Mentor new hires and ensure onboarding readiness.
- Monthly training calendar
- Teacher evaluation format (monthly/quarterly)
- Classroom observation tracker
- Training hours per teacher
- Improvement in observation scores
3: Child Development & Assessment
Responsibilities:
- Track developmental milestones.
- Ensure assessments (portfolios, reports) are updated.
- Identify and address learning gaps.
- Child assessment format
- Portfolio checklist

- Milestone tracking accuracy
- Parent satisfaction on child progress
4: Parent Communication & Experience
Responsibilities:
- Conduct orientations, PTMs, and academic sessions.
- Handle parent concerns related to academics.

- Checking each feedback and address parents accordingly
- Parent satisfaction score
- Complaint resolution TAT

5: Safety & Child Protection (CRITICAL)
Responsibilities:
- Ensure classrooms comply with child safety standards.
- Train staff on emergency response and child safety.
- Monitor child supervision at all times.
- First Aid box availability & audit
- CCTV monitoring compliance
- Entry-exit child handover protocol
- Emergency drill (fire/evacuation)
- Zero safety incidents
- 100% safety audit compliance
- Staff trained on safety protocols
6: Infrastructure & Classroom Readiness
Responsibilities:
- Ensure classrooms are designed as stimulating, child-centric learning environments that promote exploration, creativity, and independent learning.
- Align classroom setup with curriculum themes, learning objectives, and developmental milestones.
- Guide teachers in using learning corners (literacy, numeracy, sensory, dramatic play, art) effectively.
- Ensure availability and rotation of age-appropriate Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs).
- Integrate experiential and play-based learning through classroom setup and activities.
- Maintain balance between structured and free-play zones within the classroom.
- Ensure visual displays (walls, boards) are meaningful, interactive, and child-created rather than decorative.
- Support inclusive classroom practices for different learning styles and needs.
- Classroom environment checklist (learning corners, accessibility, engagement level)
- Monthly TLM planner and rotation tracker
- Display guidelines (theme-based, child work, concept reinforcement)

Responsibilities:

8: Admin Coordination & Operations Support
Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth day-to-day functioning.
- Substitute teacher planning

9: Academic Events & Calendar
- Plan and execute events such as Parent’s Orientation, Annual Day, Sports Day, and theme activities and any other academic related event.

Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate + ECCEd / Montessori (Mandatory)
- B.Ed (Preferred)
- 5–8 years preschool experience
- 5-6 years in academic leadership
