Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for an ITI-certified VMC Operator based in Khandala. The VMC Operator will set up and operate vertical machining centers, interpret engineering drawings, and prepare CNC programs or input machining parameters as per job requirements. Responsibilities include selecting and setting tools, loading workpieces, monitoring machining operations, and performing in-process inspection to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish. The role involves routine machine maintenance, documentation of production and quality checks, and coordination with the engineering and quality teams to resolve machining issues. The VMC Operator is expected to follow safety protocols, maintain a clean work area, and support continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
Qualifications
- ITI certification in Fitter, Machinist, Turner, or related mechanical trade, with 2–4 years of hands-on experience operating VMC machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, basic GD&T, and use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and dial indicators.
- Practical knowledge of CNC/VMC machine operation, including tool selection, offset setting, parameter adjustment, and basic troubleshooting of machining issues.
- Experience with production documentation, in-process quality checks, and adherence to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Basic understanding of CAD/CAM-generated programs (reading and editing), cutting tool geometry, machining processes for metals, and optimization for cycle time and tool life.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and quality personnel, with strong attention to detail, time management, and a focus on continuous improvement.
- Willingness to work in shifts if required, good physical stamina for shop-floor activities, and familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization practices.
