About the Role
The Zonal Sales Manager will lead business growth across key North Indian markets, with responsibility for delivering sales performance, strengthening distribution infrastructure, and building a high-performing regional sales organization.
This role combines commercial ownership, team leadership, and market execution excellence. It is suited to an experienced FMCG sales leader who understands distributor-led markets, frontline execution discipline, and the evolving dynamics of modern trade, general trade, and emerging channels.
The position works closely with senior sales leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure consistent, profitable growth across the zone.
Key Responsibilities
Business Delivery & Market Growth
· Own delivery of zonal primary and secondary sales objectives in alignment with national business priorities
· Drive sustainable market share growth through disciplined execution, distribution expansion, and strong trade engagement
· Identify emerging market opportunities, growth pockets, and channel trends to strengthen competitive positioning
· Ensure consistent marketplace representation of the brand through availability, visibility, and execution standards
· Balance short-term sales delivery with long-term market development and brand strength across the zone
Distribution & Trade Management
· Strengthen distributor infrastructure across the zone to support scalable and sustainable business growth
· Drive width and depth of distribution across urban, semi-urban, and rural markets with a focus on execution excellence
· Build strong, long-term trade relationships while ensuring commercial discipline and operational efficiency
· Monitor distributor performance, working capital health, and ROI to maintain a robust distribution ecosystem
· Ensure high standards of in-market execution including product availability, merchandising visibility, and channel hygiene
Strategic Planning & Commercial Ownership
· Lead zonal business planning including revenue targets, market share priorities, and profitability considerations
· Provide structured market intelligence and ground insights to inform national sales and category strategy
· Identify white spaces, emerging channels, and competitive risks to strengthen long-term business positioning
· Drive commercial discipline across pricing, trade investments, and promotional effectiveness to support profitable growth
· Contribute actively to shaping regional go-to-market approaches aligned with evolving consumer and trade dynamics
Cross Functional Collaboration
· Work closely with marketing, supply chain, finance, and category teams to ensure alignment between demand generation, supply planning, and market execution
· Provide structured market feedback to support product planning, promotional strategies, and brand initiatives
· Collaborate on forecasting, inventory planning, and service-level improvements to strengthen trade confidence and business continuity
· Support effective rollout of national initiatives, ensuring regional adaptability without dilution of intent
· Foster strong cross-functional relationships to enable faster decision-making and coordinated execution across the zone
Sales Leadership & Team Development
· Lead and develop Regional Sales Managers, Area Sales Managers, and frontline sales teams to deliver consistent performance across the zone
· Build leadership capability through structured reviews, coaching, and targeted development interventions
· Strengthen succession pipelines by identifying and grooming high-potential talent within the sales organization
· Foster a performance-driven culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
· Ensure clarity of goals, disciplined follow-through, and strong execution ownership across all levels of the team
Systems, Governance & Execution Excellence
· Ensure disciplined adoption of sales systems, reporting tools, and Sales Force Automation platforms across the zone
· Drive accuracy and timeliness in forecasting, reporting, and performance tracking
· Maintain strong governance standards, adherence to organizational processes, and commercial compliance
· Use data, analytics, and structured reviews to improve decision-making and execution effectiveness
· Establish a consistent operating rhythm through regular reviews, follow-ups, and accountability mechanisms

Experience & Practical Details
· 18+ years of FMCG sales experience, including significant leadership exposure across North India markets
· Proven track record in distributor management, channel expansion, and frontline sales leadership
· Strong understanding of trade dynamics, execution standards, and commercial discipline in FMCG environments
· Familiarity with Sales Force Automation (SFA) / Field Assist platforms preferred
· Willingness to travel regularly across the zone to support business priorities
