Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor leads and oversees the daily work of the maintenance team, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and facilities. This role is responsible for managing corrective and preventive maintenance activities, assigning and prioritizing work orders, maintaining shop organization and spare parts, and supporting production with equipment issues. The supervisor serves as the first‑line leader for maintenance personnel and plays a key role in communication, safety, and operational discipline.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Enforce all safety, quality, and operational procedures to support safe, reliable plant operations.
- Ensure team compliance with PPE requirements, machine guarding, and emergency procedures (shutdown, power loss, evacuation).
- Plan, prioritize, schedule, assign, and track corrective and preventive maintenance work orders.
- Maintain and continuously improve the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), including asset data, PMs, and work order history.
- Maintain spare parts, tools, and consumables inventory; establish min/max levels and support purchasing as needed.
- Manage and maintain maintenance shop organization, housekeeping, and standard work practices, including 5S standards.
- Oversee maintenance of production and facility systems, including HVAC, cooling tower and chilled water, compressed air, electrical, plumbing, and thermal oxidizers/incinerators.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, provide technical support to production, and participate hands-on when required.
- Develop, implement, and enforce preventive maintenance routines to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and lower maintenance costs.
- Design and implement work methods, procedures, and continuous-improvement initiatives to increase maintenance productivity and service levels.
- Hire, train, coach, and motivate maintenance technicians; provide direction, feedback, and development support.
- Monitor performance and participate in performance reviews, including documentation of goals, competencies, and corrective actions as needed.
- Support installation, commissioning, and development of new facilities and production equipment.
- Perform and/or oversee mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic work, including repair of tools/dies, pumps, motors, drives, ovens, bearings, and piping systems.
- Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash, NFPA, and OSHA requirements; conduct routine audits and corrective follow-up.
- Coordinate external contractors as needed; scope work, manage schedules, verify safe work practices, and review completed work for quality.
- Prepare and maintain required reports, records, and metrics (e.g., downtime, PM compliance, backlog, and cost tracking).
- Actively report status, risks, and issues in real time to the line manager to support timely stakeholder engagement, guidance, and decision-making.
- Position could require off duty work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior supervisory experience in maintenance manufacturing (1+ years)
- Min. 4+ years of experience in plant maintenance in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read/interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Willingness and ability to work hands
- Computer skills, able to use email, MS Word, MS Excel, Internet, CMMS
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends as needed
Preferred:
- Technical certification, advanced trade training, associate or bachelor’s degree
- Experience with tools & dies (die casting, injection molding, extrusion, etc.)
- Welding (MIG) training and experience
- Lean/Six Sigma experience
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Standing, walking and climbing will be required.
- Will be required to wear various types of respirators and other personal protective equipment, no facial hair which can interfere with the proper fit of respirators.
- Employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to work outdoors at times in hot or cold weather to service HVAC and oxidizers.

- All work will be performed in the plant environment which may be hot and humid in the summer and cold in the winter.
- Chemicals, airborne fumes and particulates may exist in the plant atmosphere.
- Employee may work near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places and confined spaces and may occasionally be exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but there are areas which require hearing protection.
