About the role

Zed is a fast, collaborative code editor built from the ground up in Rust. We're looking for a Windows Lead to transform Zed into a first-class native Windows experience. In this role, you'll complete our Windows port, establish quality standards, and build a Windows editor that feels truly native. You'll work hands-on with Windows APIs and guide the team to deliver a polished product that Windows users will love. Key Responsibilities Lead and drive our in-progress Windows port to completion and official release Establish the technical vision and quality standards for the Windows platform Regularly use Windows to personally verify quality and native experience Design solutions that respect Windows platform conventions Resolve Windows-specific challenges in our Rust codebase Build testing infrastructure that catches Windows-specific regressions Guide technical decisions for the Windows platform Mentor team members on Windows development best practices Requirements Strong Rust experience with systems programming background Windows as your primary development environment Deep knowledge of Windows APIs and development patterns Experience with graphics programming on Windows Experience shipping Windows applications with native feel Understanding of Windows UX patterns and user expectations Proven technical leadership ability Self-directed with excellent prioritization skills Passion for creating high-quality Windows experiences Preferred Qualifications Background in Windows developer tools ecosystem Familiarity with Windows-specific build systems and CI/CD pipelines History of open-source contributions Knowledge of Windows packaging and distribution (MSIX, Windows Store)
