The Advanced Systems Development (ASD) team creates business growth opportunities for the division by working closely with the end customers in creating new higher risk differentiated solutions that are typically outside of the current divisional commitments.

The DevOps Engineer will work collaboratively with the Continuous Integration and software Engineering teams to deploy and operate development & test systems. You will help automate and streamline product operations and processes; build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations; and troubleshoot / resolve issues in our development, test and production environments and act in the role of a key systems administrator for the DevOps systems.

Location: Holtsville, NY- Hybrid

Responsibilities:

• Implements small and/or maintains medium-sized software build configurations using dedicated build systems (e.g. MSBuild, CMake, Ninja build).
• Implements small and medium-sized tasks in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery of software products and components using dedicated systems (e.g. GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Implements smaller improvements or extensions for distribuable packages and maintains distribution of software components (e.g. with Conan, Artifactory).
• Creates basic backup plans and participates in implementing them.
• Understands disaster recovery procedures.
• Participates in implementation of security measure for software products.
• Participates in security assessments, certifications and maintenance.
  
  

As a DevOps Engineer, you'll...

• Manage shared systems and services, docker orchestrator, service registry, secrets management and more.
• Write production-quality tools to reduce toil for the Engineering team and help automate the technical ecosystem to help us scale.
• Assist other teams to utilize our observability tools and scripts to debug production systems.
• Help shape the technologies used at Zebra Technologies to solve some of our fundamental challenges (e.g. CI/CD, container orchestration, logging, security, etc.)
  

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical field
• Experience in engineering or related field experience
• Knowledge of Linux, Windows, Dockers and/or Kubernetes
• Knowlegde of deployment tools such as: Jenkins, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, and Ansible.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree beneficial
• Cloud solution and platform experience
• Experience/knowledge with Python and Bash.
• Enterprise specific components experience : web technologies, databases, middleware, frameworks, OSs (server and mobile), virtualization, firewalls, and hosted services (PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, BaaS) including differences from on-premise equivalents
• Proven ability to adjust to changes in priorities and manage multiple threads effectively and in a timely manner
• Demonstrated examples as a team player with ability to navigate organizational boundaries
• Working knowledge, and in some cases deep knowledge, of several of the following systems components:
• Mobile computing software including strong knowledge of Android
• Generic hardware: servers, networking gear, mobile devices/tablets/laptops
• Enterprise specific components: web technologies, databases, middleware, frameworks, OSs (server and mobile), virtualization, firewalls, and hosted services (PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, BaaS) including differences from on-premise equivalents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Role is required to be onsite in Holtsville, NY.

Salary: USD 67000.00 - USD 100600.00 Yearly

Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
