Position Summary
Zachry Construction is seeking a Drainage Foreman to lead and manage a crew responsible for performing drainage and underground utility operations on heavy highway construction projects.
The Drainage Foreman is responsible for meeting production goals, tracking material quantities, monitoring costs, and maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality work. This role requires strong leadership, planning, and communication skills to effectively manage daily field operations.
What You’ll Do
- Plan and direct crew activities to achieve daily and weekly production goals while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, project specifications, and cost reports to track progress and resolve material discrepancies.
- Supervise the installation of storm sewer pipes, boxes, culverts, and concrete structures with expert knowledge of sloping, grading, and trench safety.
- Ensure proper use of trench boxes, shoring, and laser setup for accurate excavation and pipe installation.
- Train, mentor, and supervise crew members on safety procedures, production efficiency, and equipment operation.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping, equipment logs, and daily production reports.
- Enforce company safety policies through toolbox talks, inspections, and proactive communication.

What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years of heavy highway road construction experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, cut stakes, and offsets.
- Ability to calculate and verify grades from plans accurately.
- Strong understanding of drainage systems, including RCP, HDPE, box culverts, and concrete installations.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, excavation, trenching, and shoring.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented.
- Flexibility to work day, night, and weekend shifts as required.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions up to 90% of the time.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform fieldwork on uneven terrain.
- Experience with Mobile Timecard or similar systems preferred.
- Must be licensed and approved to operate a company vehicle.
