POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Education Director the Youth Prevention Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the development of all phases of the Boys & Girls Club. This includes coordination with others in a community effort to implement and design the program. To oversee the development and implementation of a successful Yurok Boys & Girls Club on the Yurok Reservation. The Youth Prevention Coordinator will oversee Club staff budgets and will actively participate in resource development activities and campaigns to support Club activities for on-going success. The Youth Prevention Coordinator will be an active member of the Club program and will be required to oversee activities and events as needed.
Position Duties
1. Responsible for implementing the project and all aspects of program design.
2. Supervise, train and evaluate project and staff.
3. Maintain records and information on project activities. Compile monthly reports, quarterly reports to Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and other program information as needed.
4. Research funding from various agencies and write grants as necessary.
5. Implement and deliver Yurok Boys and Girls Club programming for youth ages 7-16 that supports the Club priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles.
6. Recruit, encourage and engage youth participates.
7. Create a safe environment that facilitates learning and is encouraging and engaging for the children.
8. Leading and engaging volunteers on a daily basis as well as special events.
9. Responsible for daily set-up and clean-up of all materials used during the program
10. Steward relationships with volunteers, school staff and parents.
11. Facilitate parent and community engagement.
12. Monitor and evaluate, on an ongoing basis, programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality of programs and utilization of resources.
13. Provide regular updates on site challenges, opportunities and best practices.
14. Implement Club program assessment tools.
15. Implement special events programs for parents, teachers and broader community.
16. Maintain the Club facility and enforce all site operating expectations.
17. Implement summer programming as needed.
18. Develop on-going funding plans and develop partnerships with outside resource providers.
19. May be required to drive Club vehicle, and/or escort youth on bus.
20. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. G7: Bachelor’s degree in related field.
2. G8: Bachelor’s degree in related field with one year of job specified experience.
3. Employees must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or become required of the position in the future.
4. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience in an administrative capacity, including supervisory experience, in youth programs or closely related field.
2. Must demonstrate written and oral communications, teaching and public presentation.
3. Knowledge of prevention and intervention programs.
4. Computer literate, including Windows, Microsoft Office and other common programs.
5. Ability to plan and schedule workload independently.
6. Recognition that in order to serve Yurok People one must know as much as possible about Yurok history, culture and values.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities. Plans work of subordinates based on priorities, nature of assignment. Develops work performance plans and evaluates the performance of subordinates. Provides advice, instruction, and guidance to subordinates on work and administrative matters. Effects disciplinary actions and determines developmental training needs of employees. Supervises subordinate employees including assigning and reviewing work, evaluation performance, training, and taking necessary disciplinary action when needed. Use and promote a team approach to management and ensure accountability throughout the workplace.

6. Must pass a background investigation and fingerprint clearance.
7. This position requires compliance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act Public Law 101-630; 25 Code of Federal Regulations Part 63 - Indian child Protection and Family Violence Prevention; Crime Control Act of 1990, Employee Background Checks; and Executive Order 12968, Adjudicative Guidelines.
8. Position could require travel and occasional work outside of regular work schedule.
