YouTube Long-Form Video Editor (Documentary Style) – Full-Time / Monthly Contract
Looking for a skilled YouTube long-form video editor to join on a full-time or monthly contract basis to help craft high-retention, documentary-style videos for a growing channel focused on health, performance, and deep-dive storytelling. This role is ideal for someone who lives inside Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, understands YouTube pacing, and cares deeply about story, polish, and audio quality.
Role overview
• Edit 10–30 minute long-form YouTube videos in a documentary / mini-doc style with strong focus on story, pacing, and viewer retention.
• Turn raw talking-head footage, B-roll, and references into cohesive, engaging narratives that hold attention from hook to outro.
• Use AI tools and AI animation to create explainer visuals, subtle motion graphics, and pattern interrupts where needed.
• Collaborate through structured feedback (timestamps, comments, versions) and deliver on agreed timelines consistently.
Core requirements
• Strong experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects for motion graphics, titles, and basic compositing.
• Comfortable using AI tools and AI animation workflows to enhance visuals and storytelling.
• Demonstrated experience in documentary-style or explainer-style editing, with emphasis on narrative structure and emotional beats.
• Solid audio post-production skills: cleaning dialogue, balancing music and voice, basic mixing and mastering.
• Strong sense of visual storytelling and YouTube-native pacing (hooks, pattern interrupts, retention tactics).
• Organized with files and projects; able to follow a clear system for project naming, versioning, and backups.
Nice-to-have
• Experience editing in health, wellness, science, or educational niches.
• Familiarity with YouTube analytics and how editing choices affect audience retention and watch time.
Work structure
• This is a full-time or structured monthly contract role (not a per-project freelance gig). Remote position; you can work from anywhere, as long as you can meet deadlines and align for feedback windows.
• Expected minimum of 4 high-quality long-form videos per month, or an appropriate number of shorts if we choose to prioritise vertical content in a given period. Mix of long-form and shorts may shift based on the content strategy, but the overall monthly workload will remain consistent.
Compensation
• Fixed monthly contract amount or full-time structure.
• Salary/retainer will be discussed during the interview and will depend on your experience, portfolio quality, and speed of delivery.
