About the role

Young Minds Matter (YMM) is seeking a dedicated volunteer software developer to assist in the creation of a secure web portal aimed at managing, monitoring, and validating our mentor services.

Your work will directly support the mental health of young people by Streamlining processes to allow mentors to focus more on providing support. Offering data-driven insights for better decision-making and securing grants. Enhancing collaboration and communication among mentors. Protecting sensitive data, thus building trust with users and stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

Skills Website Optimisation Ability to enhance website performance and usability. JavaScript Proficiency in JavaScript for interactive web features. Frontend Frameworks Experience with React or Angular for building responsive interfaces. Backend Development Knowledge of Node.js, Django, or Ruby on Rails for backend services. Database Management Experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB. Data Encryption Skills in encrypting sensitive data. Authentication and Authorisation Expertise in secure user authentication and access control. Dashboard Creation Ability to create data visualisation and reporting tools. Secure Messaging Knowledge of implementing secure communication channels. API Integration Experience integrating external services via APIs. Experience Web Development Projects Previous work on web development projects, especially those with security requirements. Collaborative Environment Experience working in a team, particularly in a volunteer or nonprofit setting. Handling Sensitive Data Familiarity with managing and protecting sensitive information. Qualities Attention to Detail Ensuring all aspects of the portal are secure and user-friendly. Problem-Solving Ability to troubleshoot issues and find effective solutions. Empathy Understanding the impact of their work on the mental health of young people. Commitment Dedication to the mission of supporting mental health and well-being. What will you be doing?

Young Minds Matter (YMM) is seeking a dedicated volunteer software developer to assist in the creation of a secure web portal aimed at managing, monitoring, and validating our mentor services. This platform will enhance our ability to track mentee referrals from schools, record session notes, log timesheets, and generate impactful statistics to measure our charitable efforts. With the view for this platform to expand into other areas as time goes on. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with YMM Trustees & staff to understand project requirements and design specifications. Develop a user-friendly, secure web portal that meets the organization’s needs. Implement features for tracking mentee referrals, recording session notes, and logging timesheets. Create reporting tools to generate statistics for evaluating program effectiveness. Ensure the platform adheres to best practices for data security and user privacy. Conduct testing and debugging to maintain high-quality code and functionality.
