POSITION SUMMARY:

The Youth Activities Coordinator will be responsible for direct service of after school care, summer camp, various youth sports and enrichment programs. The Coordinator will direct and supervise youth program activities to meet the needs of the community and the YMCA objectives of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. 

 

Youth Activity personnel will be required to work evening and weekend hours based on program schedule.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Will possess the capacity to program manage multiple projects, demonstrating effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Hire, train and supervise staff to meet program goals.
  • Responsible for supporting the Regional Directors in the creation and submission of all youth data. 
  • Provide a visible presence at YMCA programs while maintaining positive customer facing support.
  • Great Customer Service to include returning messages within 24 business hours.
  • Must be able to manage youth behavior with respect, maturity, compassion and encouragement.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with professional staff and other departments.
  • Must complete and maintain all required trainings and certifications for youth programming.
  • Other activities and duties as needed that address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
  • Expected to move between sites as needed for program safety and success.
  • Availability: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 7:00pm with a typical schedule of 9:00am - 6:00pm.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of youth activity experience in a camp or recreation setting
  • Strong ability in using MS Office
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Must be available to work evening and weekends to support youth activities
  • Ability to demonstrate strong initiative, creativity, flexibility, and be able to operate and promote an environment that supports the YMCA’s mission and its four core values.
  • A valid Kentucky driver’s license is required and the ability to operate a YMCA vehicle or your own personal vehicle on behalf of the Y, is required.
