AI Engineer & Researcher - Reinforcement Learning & Agent

The agent team at xAI makes AI models generalizable and capable of solving real-world challenges. Role responsibilities include developing realistic agent environments and evaluation methods, designing reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms for agents to learn by interacting with realistic environments, and collecting and curating human and synthetic data to improve agent systems. Exceptional candidates may have a PhD in AI or other scientific domains, strong knowledge of reinforcement learning techniques, and experience building infrastructure for large-scale reinforcement learning and multi-agent reinforcement learning. The role is based in Palo Alto, with candidates expected to be located near Palo Alto or open to relocation. The interview process includes an initial phone interview, followed by four technical interviews including a coding assessment, two researcher technical sessions, and a presentation of past exceptional work and vision with xAI. Interviews are conducted via Google Meet, with the goal to finish the process within one week.
