Are you confident managing complex conversations and working with residents to find realistic solutions? If so, we'd love you to join us as an Income Recovery Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dedicated team, working to maximise rental income, prevent arrears, and support residents to maintain successful tenancies. Please note, a full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle are essential for this role. About the Role As an Income Recovery Officer, you'll manage a caseload of rent accounts and take proactive, person-centred action to recover arrears. You'll work closely with residents, support services, and colleagues across WCHG to deliver a responsive and effective income management service. You'll also handle legal action where necessary, balancing firm enforcement with a strong commitment to tenancy sustainment and customer care. What You'll Be Doing Managing rent arrears cases from early intervention through to legal enforcement Providing advice and support to help tenants meet payment responsibilities Referring residents to financial inclusion or tenancy support services where needed Negotiating affordable repayment plans and monitoring compliance Preparing legal documentation, serving notices, and attending court as required Working flexibly across a designated patch to meet service delivery targets Maintaining accurate records and updating internal systems Promoting a supportive, solution-focused approach to income recovery What We're Looking For Experience in income recovery, housing management or a customer-focused role Understanding of Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, and tenancy law Strong communication and negotiation skills Confident working under pressure and managing a busy caseload Ability to analyse rent accounts and take appropriate action Comfortable working independently and as part of a team Sound IT skills and attention to detail in record-keeping A flexible, empathetic, and professional approach Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours work on a rota basis Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
