What you would write
Full research reports, mostly. A market sizing that walks the reader from assumption to conclusion. A teardown of how a company actually makes money. A sector note that explains why a category is moving the way it is. The raw material is analysis: models, filings, platform data, interviews. Your job is to shape it into an argument that is clear on the first read and stands up to scrutiny on the second.
Why the writing matters
A research report is only worth what a reader takes from it, and most reports lose their best findings in muddled structure and heavy prose. The difference between a report that gets skimmed and one that gets cited is almost always the writing: what you lead with, what you cut, how plainly you state the point. We want someone who can make a dense analysis feel simple without making it shallow.
Who this suits
You write clearly and you are comfortable around numbers. You can look at a spreadsheet or a set of findings and see the story the data is telling, then build a report around it that holds together from the first line. You have a point of view but you keep it tied to the evidence. You edit hard, and you would rather ship a shorter piece that is right than a longer one that is padded.
You might come from consulting, journalism, equity research or a research-led role somewhere else. The label matters less than whether you can think through a problem and write it up well.
