Job Highlight:
WRI India is seeking an Intern – GIS who will be an integral member of WRI India’s Ross Centre for Sustainable Cities Geo Analytics team. The role will include working on a variety of data-driven analyses across our core practice areas, leveraging data, information, and technical expertise to support informed urban infrastructure decisions and design.
What will you do:
Research & Analysis
• Conduct data exploration, quantitative research, and deliver customized analytical solutions and insights to meet project requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams to assess and organize complex datasets from various sources for spatial modeling.
• Develop and execute Python and Google Earth Engine scripts for data acquisition, processing, and analysis.
• Support staff and partners with geospatial analyses and visualizations as required.
Technical Support & Outreach
• Develop data visualization dashboards, interactive web maps, and storyboards for communicating complex insights through visually engaging outputs.
• Prepare professional visualizations for presentations, publications, and digital
platforms.
What will you need:
• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred.
• 1–2 years of relevant work experience in the geospatial industry (recent graduates with strong skills may also apply).
• Proficiency in GIS software including ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, MapInfo, or similar tools.
• Experience with coding, particularly Python, R, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Google Earth Engine is a strong advantage.
• Experience in spatial analysis and modeling (e.g., ArcGIS Spatial Analyst,
ModelBuilder, Python scripting, SQL).
• Experience working with publicly available GIS datasets, crowd-sourced platforms such as OpenStreetMap, and remote-sensing databases.
Stipend: 25000 INR per month
Location: Bengaluru / Delhi / Mumbai
Duration: 2 months
