Call for expression of interest FELLOWSHIP IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING APPLICATION DEADLINE: Please note that the deadline for applications is indicated in local time as per the time zone of the applicant's location. 1. Organizational context (a) Organizational Setting The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is a United Nations specialized agency. Its WIPO Knowledge Center (WKC) is the custodian of the knowledge repository, which is an authoritative source for global IP academic research. The WKC oversees WIPO's physical and digital library collection, in addition to the dissemination of WIPO publications. The WKC team requires a qualified Fellow to assist with its outreach activities. Fellowships aim to provide fellows with experience to strengthen their knowledge and professional competence, which they can apply in their professional field once they have completed their fellowship with WIPO. (b) Reporting Lines The Fellow shall work under the supervision of the Head, WIPO Knowledge Center (WKC). (c) Objectives During the fellowship, the Fellow will assist with the WKC activities and gain in-depth knowledge and competence in the respective field. 2. Duties and responsibilities The Fellow will provide support in the following areas: a) In collaboration with WKC team members, coordinate the Visitor program; accompany the visiting groups, providing the tour of the premises and the presentation, as necessary; b) Assist in the preparation of content for various outreach channels, including newsletters and social media content creation; c) Liaise with relevant colleagues to procure and verify outreach content, to develop relevant design assets, and to obtain engagement analytics; d) Perform any other tasks as requested by the Head, WIPO Knowledge Center. 3. Requirements a) Education: Essential: First level university degree in communication or a related field. Recognized professional qualification. b) Experience: Essential: At least two years of relevant and proven experience in delivering various outreach activities. Both digital and in person activities. Desirable: Experience in public speaking to groups in English and in French. (c) Languages Essential: Excellent (written and spoken) knowledge of English and a good knowledge of French. Desirable: Good knowledge of at least one of United Nations' other official languages. (d) Specific skills and competencies: Essential: i. Excellent communication and writing skills, paying close attention to detail. ii. Excellent organizational skills, with experience in project management. iii. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task. iv. A team player and the ability to deal with colleagues at all levels; strong interpersonal skills. v. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Desirable: i. Proficiency in working with social media platforms. ii. Knowledge of Trello, or similar. iii. Ability to use Adobe Photoshop, or similar. 4. Organizational competencies 1. Terms and conditions a) Term of fellowship: A fellowship may be granted for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility to renew. b) Anticipated Start Date: June 1, 2025. c) Location: WIPO Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland. d) Stipend: CHF 6,000 monthly. e) Travel expenses: WIPO shall contribute towards the cost of the fellow's travel on engagement and separation from service. If necessary, WIPO may provide assistance in obtaining an entry visa to Switzerland. f) WIPO contributes towards the medical insurance and provides accident insurance coverage during the course of the fellowship. g) WIPO will request a "carte de legitimation" for the Fellow, which serves as a residence and work permit, from the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations Office and to the other international organizations in Geneva. Family members of the Fellow are not eligible for a "carte de legitimation." h) Tax and social security: Fellows shall be solely responsible for meeting any taxation and social security obligations that may arise directly or indirectly from their contract with WIPO.
