About the role

The World Bank Group is seeking a Senior Energy Specialist to join the Energy and Extractives Global Practice (GEEX). The Energy Specialist will be based in Washington, D.C. or one of the World Bank regional offices, including Washington D.C., Copenhagen, Lima, Bangkok, Dakar, Lagos or Nairobi. The successful candidate will contribute to the World Bank's program in the energy sector with a focus on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sector reform. The position will involve analytical work, project preparation and implementation, and policy dialogue in client countries. Specific responsibilities include: - Leading the preparation, implementation and supervision of World Bank lending and advisory operations in the energy sector, particularly in the areas of renewable energy, energy efficiency and sector reform; - Conducting economic, financial, technical and policy analysis to support the design and implementation of energy operations and policy dialogue in client countries; - Providing technical and policy advice to World Bank management and client governments on energy sector issues, including the design and implementation of sector reforms, the scaling up of renewable energy and energy efficiency programs, and the integration of climate change considerations into energy planning and operations; - Liaising with other development partners and stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and knowledge sharing on energy sector issues; - Contributing to the development of the World Bank's analytical and knowledge work on energy sector issues, including through publications, conferences and seminars.
