About the role
The World Bank Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Consultant to join the Fragility, Conflict and Violence (FCV) Group. The FCV Group is a Bank-wide matrix unit that provides strategic leadership, operational support, and knowledge management for the Bank's work in FCV-affected countries and regions.
The Senior Consultant will contribute to the ongoing development and deepening of the FCV Group's analytical and operational work. Responsibilities will include:
- Provide strategic advice and analytical support to Bank operations and country teams working in FCV contexts. This will involve contributing to country and regional engagement, as well as supporting the development of new approaches, solutions, and tools.
- Contribute to flagship knowledge products, events, and other knowledge management activities of the FCV Group. This could include authoring or co-authoring analytical pieces, op-eds, blogs, and other knowledge products.
- Engage with clients, partners, and other stakeholders on FCV-related issues. This could involve representing the FCV Group in client meetings, workshops, and conferences.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the FCV Group's work program and strategy. This will involve close collaboration with the FCV Group's leadership, as well as interdisciplinary teams across the World Bank Group.
The ideal candidate will have:
- At least 10 years of relevant professional experience, with a strong track record of analytical, operational, and/or advisory work in fragile, conflict-affected, and violent settings.
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, political science, international relations, development studies).
- Deep technical expertise and demonstrated intellectual leadership on issues related to FCV, development, and/or security.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into actionable insights.
- Strong client orientation and team collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel to FCV-affected countries, as needed.
