About the role

The World Bank is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Counsel to join the Office of the General Counsel (LEG). The selected candidate will work in the Legal Operations Practice Group within LEG, focusing on a range of legal and operational matters across the World Bank Group, including policy and institutional issues, human resources matters, contract negotiations, and legal advice to various Bank units. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior counsel and will have the opportunity to develop specialized expertise in legal issues relevant to the World Bank Group's operations. The Counsel will be responsible for: • Providing legal advice and drafting opinions and other legal documents on a wide range of issues, including institutional, operational, and corporate legal matters; • Negotiating and drafting various types of agreements; • Participating in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines; • Advising on human resources matters, including employment contracts, disciplinary actions, and staff grievances; • Representing the World Bank Group in internal meetings and discussions; • Performing other legal and operational tasks as required.
