Position Overview

Members of the WFC Continuous Improvement department serve as key leaders to identify and reduce waste and product variation through application of basic Continuous Improvement methodologies, such as Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.

Lead and support teams launched in the plant to identify and eliminate waste and variation. Lead and assist in the implementation of recommendations of employee ideas to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Coach the company on all levels to strive for operational excellence. The Continuous Improvement team must be able to engage employees through service and leadership. This position resides primarily on day shift, however, the position supports all shifts of operation. Depending on plant requirements, flexibility from time to time may be required. Generally, about 1 day a month is worked several hours on an off shift.

Key Responsibilities

Accountability

  • Take accountability for assigned duties and perform other duties as assigned by Manager in a timely manner.

Safety & Quality

  • Identify safety hazards and ensure that corrective actions are taken to rectify the situation.
  • Engage in positive safety behaviors.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary conditions according to Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Understand the concepts of WFC's HACCP Plan and other related food safety objectives, take actions to support the plan and ensure that it is upheld to its highest standards through employee awareness and understanding.

Continuous Improvement

  • Manage Data systems used by the production teams.
  • Lean implementation and training of 5S across the value streams. Work with teams to develop a visual management plan to ensure that the value stream is able to sustain any progress made.
  • Lead value stream activities based on the application of Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Implement employee improvement ideas.
  • Manage production tool kanban.
  • Recognize the "7 Deadly Wastes" and how to eliminate them from our daily work routines.
  • Lead Kaizen Events and 5S throughout the value streams.
  • Advocate for the use of RedZone (our productivity data collection system) through troubleshooting of issues and plant application technical support
  • Create Standards of Work (SOW) and training documents in multimedia form. Update and train others as needed.
  • Support activities in all areas of the plant including safety, quality, and production.
  • Train others to improve their problem-solving skills with tools, such as: Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions, 5 Why's, Fishbone Diagram, etc.
  • Coach teams and manage others for success.
  • Daily Gemba walks on the production floor.
  • Creation of training content for employees at multiple levels

Preferred Experience And Qualifications

  • Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related degree - comparable experience
  • 3+ years of experience in using continuous improvement tools and leading project teams.
  • Proficient in use of technology and data systems
  • Six Sigma - Green Belt (Preferred)
  • Lean Manufacturing (Preferred)
  • Six Sigma - Black Belt (Preferred)
  • SAP (Preferred)

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $105,000 per year
  • Annual Bonus: 5% of base salary, based on company and/or individual performance
