Job Description: Workday Functional Consultant – Finance / US Payroll / Absence & Time Tracking / Reporting & Prism
Experience Required: 5–20 Years
Job Location: Bangalore / Pune / Gurgaon / Noida / Mumbai
Shift: Rotational Shift – Noon / Evening / Global Time Zones

What Can You Expect?
- Plan and prioritize work across different phases of the Workday implementation, upgrade, and support lifecycle.
- Lead or manage Workday implementations, enhancements, upgrades, and production support engagements.
- Gather business requirements, perform functional analysis, and translate requirements into scalable Workday solutions.
- Configure and support end-to-end Workday business processes based on the relevant functional module.
- Support integrations, data conversion, reporting, testing, UAT, go-live, and post-production stabilization.
- Work closely with Engagement Managers, Project Managers, technical teams, and client stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and issues proactively and ensure timely resolution.
- Own functional solutioning and provide guidance to junior consultants and team members.
Module-Specific Responsibilities:
1. Workday Finance
- Configure and support Workday Financial Management processes.
- Experience across areas such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking, Expenses, Customer Accounts, Supplier Accounts, and Financial Accounting.
- Gather requirements and design solutions for financial business processes.
- Configure business processes, security, accounting structures, worktags, ledgers, journals, and financial reporting.
- Support financial data conversion, reconciliation, testing, and month-end/year-end processes.
- Work with integrations and third-party financial systems.
- Support Workday releases, enhancements, and production issues.
2. Workday US Payroll
- Configure and support end-to-end Workday US Payroll processes including earnings, deductions, taxes, payroll calculations, pay groups, and calendars.
- Strong understanding of US federal, state, and local taxation, garnishments, W-2, benefits deductions, and payroll compliance.
- Manage payroll data transformation, reconciliation, and EIB/inbound-outbound integrations.
- Support parallel payroll runs, UAT, cutover, go-live, and post-production stabilization.
- Coordinate with HCM, Benefits, Time Tracking, and other upstream/downstream modules.
- Support payroll integrations with tax, benefits, and other third-party vendors.
3. Workday Absence & Time Tracking
- Configure and support Workday Absence Management and Time Tracking processes.
- Configure absence types, eligibility rules, accruals, time-off plans, validations, calendars, and related business processes.
- Configure time tracking, time entry, time calculations, time-off, overtime, and time validation rules.
- Integrate Time Tracking and Absence with Payroll, Benefits, HCM, and other Workday modules.
- Support testing, UAT, data conversion, go-live, and production support.
- Troubleshoot time and absence-related issues and provide functional solutions.
4. Workday Reporting & Prism Analytics
- Develop and support Workday reports including Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and Custom Reports.
- Strong understanding of calculated fields, report data sources, prompts, filters, and report security.
- Build dashboards and analytics based on business requirements.
- Support reporting requirements across HCM, Finance, Payroll, Time, Absence, and other Workday modules.
- Experience with Workday Prism Analytics for data ingestion, transformation, blending, and analytical reporting.
- Support Prism data sources, datasets, calculated fields, data preparation, and validation.
- Work with business stakeholders to translate reporting and analytics requirements into Workday solutions.
- Troubleshoot reporting and Prism-related issues and support Workday releases.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong functional expertise in at least one of the following Workday modules: Finance, US Payroll, Absence & Time Tracking, or Reporting & Prism.
- Hands-on experience in Workday configuration, business processes, troubleshooting, testing, and production support.
- Experience in Workday implementation, enhancement, upgrade, or AMS/support projects.
- Strong understanding of Workday business processes, security, data model/object model, and functional configuration.
- Experience with Workday integrations, EIBs, data conversion, and reporting is preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of overall experience, with relevant Workday experience aligned to the module.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with global clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
- Flexibility to work across global time zones and rotational shifts.
Education
- B.E. / B.Tech / MCA / B.Sc. or equivalent.
