Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Workday Technical Architect with strong end-to-end expertise in Workday HCM, Onboarding, and Integrations to support global clients in a consulting environment. The role requires deep hands-on configuration experience, integration architecture capabilities, and strong production support governance across multiple tenants.
This position will drive solution design, complex troubleshooting, integration build & monitoring, data flow architecture, and system optimization across Workday modules in enterprise client environments.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Onboarding & Lifecycle Configuration
- Architect and configure complete onboarding lifecycle (Pre-hire → Hire → Onboarding → Payroll activation).
- Design document generation, notifications, approval workflows, and condition-driven routing.
- Configure role-based security and dynamic access control.
- Ensure downstream data accuracy across payroll, benefits, time, and finance integrations.
Workday Integrations
- Design, build, and support complex integrations using:
- Core Connectors (Worker, Benefits, Payroll, Absence)
- EIB (Inbound/Outbound)
- Workday Studio
- PECI & Payroll Interface
- Custom REST/SOAP integrations
- Architect secure data inflow and outflow mechanisms between Workday and:
- Third-party payroll vendors
- Benefits providers
- Finance/ERP systems
- Identity management systems
- Develop and maintain:
- XML/XSLT transformations
- Integration mappings
- Calculated field logic
- Perform integration monitoring, error handling, and root cause analysis.
- Lead file validation, reconciliation, and performance tuning activities.
Data Governance & Reporting Architecture
- Architect advanced calculated fields, composite reports, and matrix reports.
- Design audit frameworks for payroll and benefits reconciliation.
- Implement data validation controls and exception reporting mechanisms.
- Support mass data loads and data migration activities using EIB.
Production Support & Release Governance
- Act as L3 escalation for complex production issues.
- Lead Workday bi-annual release impact analysis, regression testing strategy, and deployment validation.
- Manage tenant strategy (Sandbox, Preview, Production) and deployment governance.
- Maintain SLA-driven support model within consulting environment.
- Identify recurring defects and recommend architectural improvements.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement (Consulting Environment)
- Interface directly with global HR, Payroll, and IT stakeholders.
- Provide technical advisory on Workday best practices.
- Support RFPs, solution estimations, and effort sizing.
- Mentor junior consultants and provide technical oversight.
Required Experience & Skills
- 8–10 years overall experience, with 6+ years dedicated to Workday.
- Strong hands-on expertise in:
- Core HCM
- Onboarding
- Benefits
- Time Tracking & Absence
- Compensation
- Payroll Interfaces
- Proven experience building and troubleshooting Studio integrations.
- Strong knowledge of:
- XML, XSLT
- Web Services (SOAP/REST)
- Workday Web Services (WWS)
- Integration security frameworks
- Deep understanding of Business Process Framework and Workday security model.
- Experience handling multi-country payroll and benefits integrations.
- Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Certification (HCM / Integrations / Benefits).
- Experience in multi-client consulting delivery model.
- Exposure to Workday Extend (optional but preferred).
- Experience in global implementations and post-production AMS support.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, regional payroll compliance).
